My brake drums are severely rusted and I’m wanting to replace them. Can I just replace the drums with new ones, as simple as that? Or do I need to replace the entire brake shoe assembly too?

Been quoted £150 from a garage with no shoes, but I can get drums online for £40 for 2, and they are happy to fit customer supplied parts.

Thanks.

As long as the adjusters are working correctly and the shoes are worn evenly with no unevenness ect there's no real reason you can't just change the drum
£150 sounds like a lot for the job from the garage however they must be expecting some problems

£75 each with a service or £90 each without, very expensive indeed.

Thanks for your help!
