My girlfriend has just bought a 2011 Punto Evo 1.4 8v, and she says that the warning lights for the ESP, Hill Start Assist, and Start-Stop keep coming on. Would I be right in thinking that the battery is worth investigating?

I would ignore stop start in the first instance as is a bit iffy on many fiats, especially if she just bought it, and it’s been stood a while.

Hill hold and asr relies on sensors like the reverse light switch, wheel speed sensors and usually an accelerometer in the car somewhere, if one of these is faulty then it can give problems.

Check the reverse lights work, Check the wheels and tyres to make sure there isn’t an odd one slightly different size.

Realistically it’s gonna need diagnostics to see where the fault is registering

Okey dokey. I think the dealer knew there was a potentially faulty sensor, but they sold it to her anyway!
Mine did that and it was my battery. The battery wasn't holding a charge and a new battery fixed it. Expensive £170 for a stop start battery but problem solved.
