Hi there,
First post here, simply to let share the location of the glow plugs with whoever may need. I couldn't find this info online for this specific model so I thought here is the place to have it

They're located in the front side of the engine between the engine block and the (little tini tiny) turbo. I had to replace one of them and luckily it was reachable without removing any major components.

(procedure as I made it)
- locate the plug
- give it some bolt removing spray
- drive the car for a couple of days
- give it some oil
- drive the car 3 days (~80 km/day)
- today wrenched the plug out with ease, inserted the new one with some copper grease.

I need to look at at least 1 plug on my 1.3 GP,

at least they are a LOT more accessible than my old JTD(y)

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

You can't link to external images with less than 5 posts, however it's preferred - especially for useful threads like this - that you host the pictures on the forum, either using the Gallery or the Attachments feature. If you need any help with these features, please refer to the pinned posts in Newbie Central :)

Hi!
Yesterday I had them on my library but I was probably doing something wrong including them on the post; maybe cause I was adding their links instead of using the little cam icon.
OOPS it also didnt work, always returns the error that I can't include links yet. So I attached them directly from the laptop. You can also find the ones I meant on the Gallery. Sorry for the mess everyone :(

The pics are:
-Engine view with one panel already removed - the glow plug #4 is almost touching the turbo outlet pipe. the clearance with the O2 sensor is just enough for a small long socket 9 mm (if i can remember correctly:rolleyes:)

- Connectors: We see two black connectors here, it's the one on the higher side of the pic, with the smooth-looking cable. It pops out easy, just push with your own hands (careful, hot exhausts...)

- The glow plug with removed connector... Marinating in some piri piri sauce

- Old and new glow plugs

I can see the glow plugs and can just reach the two outer ones but how do you get to the two behind the turbo. What do I need to take off to get access?

I've looked through all the glow plug threads/questions I can find but no-one actually says how to get to the glow plugs behind the turbo.
Do I need to take the air box off the get better access or anything else.

Seems I may be able to get to them with a cold engine but turbo too hot otherwise. Surely the turbo doesn't need to come off to change a glow plug?

So I had a go at removing the glow plug on the far right (as looking into engine bay). I can just reach all the plugs but thought I'd try the easiest one first. Engine hot, been spraying WD40 on them for 3 weeks. Glow plug will not move! my glow plug socket reaches about half way down the plug hex bolt and just started to round this portion (distort it) so I stopped and gave up. Firing up on 3 cylinders so will need a change soon. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Try getting a better glow plug socket for a start if it's only covering part of the hex on the flow plug

Yes, thanks. I was thinking that myself after I'd had a cup of tea and think about it. Another few days soaking in WD40 can't hurt either.

My older 1.3 that features in the GUIDES

https://www.fiatforum.com/tech-talk/471718-glow-plug-power-2.html

had the original 10 year old plugs in.. I soaked them in an aerosol penetrant for a while

Motor had to be RED HOT.. so you might struggle without good fitting tools

Thanks Guys. I was thinking of Plusgas as it was very good at releasing bolts on my 1956 tractor! So, have ordered another glow plug socket and tomorrow I'll get some Plusgas. Give it another week and should be ready to go - not sure I'll get the engine hot enough this weather though.

I've had another look through the Fiorino sections and still can't find anything a link would be very helpful Luigi, thanks.

Was it the Van glow plug thread? Anyway, I'll soak with plusgas for a while before I have another go. I'll let you guys known how I get on.

I carried this thread onto the Panda 2012+ forum but, in short, you need to take the heat shield off the turbo to get enough access to the glow plugs behind. You don't need to take the turbo off.
