Technical 1.4 16v Evo steering coloumn

Brothers car has had codes read
C1002
On the graph it shows it can only see when steering is on full l/h lock and its dead everywhere else

Its affecting esp / traction / ps etc

Now i know the mk2 it means 1 thing
A new coloumn.....

Are the gp / evo the same? Its not a replaceable sensor?
