Hi All

Just a general question

It turns out I need a new backbox and centre pipe, I want to now upgrade to a performance exhaust and want recommendations as to upgrades

Thanks

Don't spend your money on an expensive "performance" exhaust.
That will do very very little apart from putting your insurance premium up.
Or if you don't tell your insurance company and have an accident your insurance company will then have excuse not to pay for repairs to the other person or you, if it's your fault or not.
If accident your fault the other parties insurance company will then sue you for their losses and you could end up bankrupt.

With the money saved from not buying expensive , non beneficial , exhaust and not paying more for insurance , buy some really good tyres.

Hi,
If you do have any issues with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

Dan, I phoned Adrian Flux for a quote when my renewal came up in May, your advisor quoted me near to £2000 for a standard non modified car

Elephant got me down to £696 a month!
Was that 2000 per month compared to 696 per month?

Or 2000 per year compared to 696 per month?

Or 2000 per year compared to 696 per year?

Phew, I was worried you were paying 696 per month.
2000 that's crazy!

Elephant only brought me down £7 a month and then told me I wouldn't get a quote cheaper... I called their bluff, they was right! I tried all the comparison sites, rung companies not on comparison sites and was quoted in excess of £1000 every time

Don't understand how because I drive a 1.4 GP, I'm 23 years old, driving 7 years, clean license, 3 years no claims (I was a named driver for a number of years), no claims or convictions

Imagine how much it would be if you didn't have all those positives bringing the cost down.
I know my first post sounds a bit single minded but please take it seriously . My brother who is very very responsible had a truly dreadful time when a company tried to get out of paying for repairs to someone else's car.
Caused massive stress to him. Its just not worth it. If you are still unsure phone your current insurer and ask if they even cover modified cars and if so how much extra premium a non standard exhaust would be.

Just remembered another friend who nearly lost out due to roof sticker on BMW mini being classed as a modification. They had to remove the roof stickers before they could get cover.
Guy that came to fit black box for insurance co spotted roof and wouldn't touch it . had to get special clearance and to do it another day.
Don't think they won't notice - they will - it could also mean points on license and big fine at magistrates court.

Sorry we could not find a price that was suitable for you. Different insurers are better for different people. If we were competitive every time we'd be the only ones in the industry.

Kind Regards
Dan

Hi,

I'm a newbie to the Evo club but I am a keen modder.
I rang a powerflow fitter in Leicester and I was highly recommended to install one to my car as they have received a lot of punto (new and old) recently due to cost of replacing the current system with a stock system.

Quotes I received:
  • Straight + Middle + Backbox = £350
  • Backbox Single pipe = £190
  • Backbox Double pipe = £220
With powerflow you get an lifetime guarantee too so its worth the extra cash and you get a better sounding note even thought some people say otherwise.

If you can suggest any more mods that would be great.
My new car:
Evo GP 1.4

Having fitted a few custom exhaust systems to cars in the past, I would say go for a full system. Make sure that the diameter of the tubes are correct, for the proper back pressure. To big will lower the power.....

hi some info on evo Exhaust mine is 2010 still on original Exhaust its just one full Exhaust ,with no joints ,some confusion replace its long pipe & back box ,
some say to ,some say it has a middle box also ,maybe you no ? thanks
