Thinking of swapping my 1.4 evo GP for a sporting 135 model.

Is the upgrade on engine worth the 2k it would cost me?

I just moved from a 2006 Grande Punto 1.4 Active Sport to a 2011 Punto Evo Sporting. I have only had it for 4 days so its too early for a comprehensive review but these are the things I have noted:

Sporting has a considerably firmer/sportier ride
Sporting squeaks like a boss, need to sort the rear squeak out for sure
Loads of extra power and torque
Lots of extra gadgetry like skydome, leather interior, cornering lights.
I like the boot release on the Fiat badge although I like I can use the fob as well still.
I like that I can deactivate the start/stop and not have to deactivate it each time on startup. My active sport did not have start/stop to begin with though.

Overall I would say its a lot more fun to drive but the price you pay is refinement. The active sport was more compliant over bumps but then I swapped as I wanted a sportier car and that is what I have so overall I am happy with the change.

To answer your original question is it worth the extra 2K? For me yes that 135hp engine is very nice over the 77hp one I had before. Only you can really be the judge though, its your money, if you are asking I tend to think you are not sure. Go with your gut feeling, it will usually be the correct choice.

I have a Punto Evo 135 and having driven my mates standard car I would definitely recommend the 135 all the time. The engine is very flexible and so easy to use on motorways, you never have to drop down from 5th gear, and the power in 2nd gear still puts a smile on my face 2 years on!

If you do go for one though make sure it has a full service history with oil and filter changes every year. Multiair units are abit delicate and need looking after.

Mines on 53k and it's never missed a beat. Worth every penny. Won't be changing it for a long long time!
