P2563 VGT position deviation

Hi guys, I have the fault code P2563, I have been informed by my mechanic the fault lies with the turbocharger wastegate control valve sensor I have also been informed by my mechanic that the only method to fix this is to replace the entire turbocharger at the princely sum of £650 including labour. I trust my mechanic and I'm not too concerned about the cost it doesn't make me happy don't get me wrong but **** happens. However I don't trust fit Fiat they say this part comes connected to the turbocharger and you cannot buy them separately and the only option is to replace the entire turbocharger. Having had them say this about another part which was easily and cheaply fixed with a part that they wouldn't sell separately I am a little reticent to believe them on this one. Essentially I would like to know if anybody else has had this problem how did you fix it did you get a new turbo charger or is there an alternative solution to this. <br /><br />
<br /><br />
Any suggestions are welcome,<br /><br />

The otherside of this is that it may not be the sensor it could very well be the turbo control solenoid, however my mechanic has tested this and hes doubtful its that, but he cannot rule it out. The solenoid is £125 inc. fitting whereas previously stated the recon'd turbo fitted is £650 inc. fitting, one of these is the problem, my mechanic is very confident it's the turbo, but he can't rule out that it's the solenoid. So herein lies the dilemma do I spend £650 and possibly have to spend another £125, or do I spend £125 and then have to spend another £650, if you're reading this please reply and tell me what would you do, their is no right answer it could cost £650, £125 or £775 this is flip of the coin stuff.

One last bit of info the solenoid is directly in front of the heat exchanger which cracked and leaked coolant everywhere and there is an above excellent chance the solenoid got a damn good dousing in coolant, that said coolant went everywhere and there are signs of it near the turbo but the turbo is about two foot away from the area. So what would you do?

Re: P2563 VGT position deviation

I had the same fault with mine, engine light on and the same fault code, turbo wouldn't kick in and when it did it wouldn't be for long, I found out in the end it was the turbo boost position sensor (wastegate actuator) Yes you can only buy the actuator with the turbo which is crazy, but there you go, you can get them recondioned but I managed to get a secondhand one for £45 which fixed the problem, Hold this helps a bit.

Cheers for the response, it does help it confirms that I am doing the right thing, car's booked in for next week to have the turbo changed out. If i was willing to wait i could probably get it reconditioned but i recently had the car of the road for two weeks due to a cracked heat exchanger, so I have lost patience with it and want it working again. All I can say is those folks at fiat aren't fools, they are a bunch of b******ds putting it mildly, but not fools.
