Hi All,

Been having some issues with my punto evo 1.2 Mylife 2011 with 44,500 miles.

I have been getting 'Christmas' lights on my dash warning me of everything going wrong..
This issue has been occurring more and more frequently over the past few months.

The issues:
Red steering wheel light and Amber warning triangle circled by a arrow light come up.
Followed by 'ASR Unavailable', 'Power Steering Pump Failure', 'Hill Holder Unavailable', 'ESP Not Working' Or along those lines.
This only happens on start up until today, as I was driving (5 mins). ASR, Hill and ESP all came on! :bang:
Also start stop is always Unavailable no matter what I do!
Turning the steering wheel turns off the red steering wheel light.
After my little procedure below all is normal and the car dives as normal.

Procedure to temporarily 'fix' the problem is this:
- Key in and turn on ignition.
- See the pretty Xmas lights.
- Start the car.
- Turn the wheel from lock to lock.
- Watch the steering wheel symbol go away.
- Turn off the car.
- Key out of ignition.
- Back in ignition on.
- Start car.
- All is well.

No fault codes are coming up.
I have tried disconnecting the battery for 15 mins with no change.
Battery voltage is also good.

Does anyone know or have had a similar situation?
Can I reset the ECU?
What would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,
David

Hi Dave,

To me, it sounds like your battery probably is the cause, despite the voltage reading being OK. I have seen several similar posts over the years with different models and it is usually battery related.

The fact it is happening since the start of autumn would lead me to that conclusion too.

Is your car still on the original battery by any chance?

Okay Will give it a go!
Yes I think it still has its original.

Thanks

Remember. If your car has StartStop
you will need a more specialist battery.

put your Reg.No. into carparts4less on Ebay for a realistic price..
Also worth removing leads and cleaning the battery terminals 1st..as what you are seeing is a voltage drop on engine start-up
