Hi, the centre vent above the radio in my Evo has the slider no longer moving the vanes. I have looked in the guides and searched but cannot find anything for the Evo (only the 500).

Do I simply remove the radio to get to a couple of screws, remove them and then pull the vent out? Or is it stuck in also using some clips that make it harder to remove?

And once out, can I dis-assemble it to reconnect the slider?

I think there is one t head bolt in the little cubby hole above then just give it a good tug

While fixing the blower problem I had a look at this, the screw in the cubby hole was removed but I'm unable to tug the vent out - has anyone managed this themselves and can advise?

Thank you.

EDIT: Found it on another forum.
Undo the screw, put tape on a flat bladed screwdriver then work it around and there are 6 clips that need unclipping when removing it - be careful at this point.
Once removed the vent slider should be the 3rd slot down.

I have removed it. It takes some muscle to get it out. The vent has some plastic "feet" at its top edge that grab at the inside of the dash. Those feet are what is keeping you from pulling the vent straight out once all the screws are removed. Grab hold of the vent at the top left and right corners (I put my fingertips in the vent fins) and pull downwards and out (towards the cup holders or arm rest). Put your fingers at the left and rightmost sides of the vent, otherwise you risk breaking the fins. Do not use a screw driver to pry the vent out. Doing so will crack the vent and scar your dash board.
