Hi folks,

I just purchased a used Punto Evo 1.4 GP (8v) and within a day of owning it I noticed that there is some weird issue with the lights. when I have the headlights on for some reason the driver side fog light will come on intermittently. Seems to happen as soon as I engage reverse and appears to stay on. If I switch off the ignition and back on again then the light will be off but within minutes it's usually back on again. Any idea why this is happening? I understand I'll need to check the wiring but as I'm a bit of a novice I'm looking for some guidance on most likely cause. I was thinking about upgrading all the headlights anyway to xenon so maybe I should just do the whole thing at once? Thanks for the help!

first off check both fogs work

stick it on with the button and have a look.. both working?

now start can and turn head lights on.....

wheel straight are they off?

if so

turn wheel just over 1/2 a turn right does it come on?

re centre and turn from centre 1/2 a turn Left

does the left come on?

this is the cornering light function.......

same applies if you indicate left or right with the headlights on and are traveling less than approx 25mph

it can be turned off in the menu function

There is a relays on the left side, behind the mudguard. These tend to fail. Replacing is easy, just remove the service cover, and you shut see it strait away ;)

hi, :)
one of the 2 x below posts should be relevant to your issue,

Thanks Andy! You're absolutely spot on mate. I went out to check and followed your instructions. The cornering light option was indeed on. I turned it off and it's all good! To be honest it's a decent feature which I might very well turn on again. Knowing that it wasn't a fault is the main thing. Thanks for the help!

Thanks FiatTecie. This is good to know should the fog lights start playing up. On this occasion it was just me not realising the cornering lights feature!

No problem :)

to be honest in town its a pointless feature but on unlit country lanes its great in tight bends ;)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I live out in the countryside a little and it may actually be some use. Having said all that, I'll probably not bother switching it on again anyway. :)
