Re: A crack in the dashboard

I have the same issue with my Aussie 2104 500 pop. I've completed a report on ACCC site this week. I emailed dealership a few days ago...no response as yet. I didn't realise this was such a common issue, not real happy about it either

Hi. Sorry to hear this.

I only see this reported in aus. Weird

Maybe the RHD dash Is different enough to the LHD..

I would expect most of the FIAT markets bordering the Mediterranean to have similar climate : HEAT to Sydney.

But of course.. they might not post on an English Language forum in the same numbers.

ACCC appears to be step 1 for most repondents..

Good luck.

Charlie

This happened to me today! Mine is not even 4 years old.
So annoyed to hear it costs close to $2k. Need to report.

Re: A crack in the dashboard

My Fiat500 Lounge was bought in 2014. Its 4 Years and few months old. I live in Melbourne. It developed a crack about 2 months ago. Fiat is only covering for 30% of parts and I have been quoted overall $3000 by the dealership for 70% of parts and Labour... its shocking !!..

Any suggestions ?

Re: A crack in the dashboard

It’s worth noting this is not just a fiat problem, many manufacturers have the same issues including ford, Mazda and even expensive cars like Lexus.

The problem is the whole dash has to be replaced as will the air bag it’s self. The airbag will cost in the region of £500 from the dealer and the dashboard will be hundreds if not over £1000.

The issue with the cost is the amount of time taken, it takes hours and hours to carefully strip an entire dash out and remove all the parts from the dash, transfer them to the new one and put it all back together.

Re: A crack in the dashboard

Most likely not, these are not normally cracks as described but a bulge along the line of the built in weak spots which allow the airbag to burst through the dash. Even if it were slightly cracked it would still likely be fine. Maybe an advisory.

Also the worst effected cars live in very hot climates way hotter than we get here in the U.K.
