Well what to say when i got my lovely new 61 plate fresh off the transporter, years ago, and what a experience it has been ( its all good btw) i couldnt fault my car one single bit, not one single problem with it from mile 3 to 17,800 when i sold her this week. she only visted the garage once a year for the serivce (y)... it was a sad day to say goodbye. so if your looking for a low milage, with 6 months orginal warrenty and never been raced, ragged or red lined, bonuced up a kerb or down or clipped, she's worth looking at if anyone one is interested...

so i know this thread might not appeal to everyone, but just wanted to say a big thank you to fiat for 3 years happy motoring (y)

, p.s i was so glad to trade my 08 plate vw :D in for her. so never again vw

Grats on 3 years trouble free motoring, good time to part ex now as most problems start in the 4th year. I used to own a grande punto sport for 5 years from new, first 3 years was trouble free and only had 1 service in that time. Come the 4th year, my problems starting mounting up, clutch slave died, brake pads, hoses, tyres, starter motor, heat shield dropping off but I guess the lack of servicing didn't help I suppose.

17k is low mileage for a 3 year old car tho, but saying that I only did 36k in my grande in 5 years. Living 10 minute walk from work helped on mileage.

good to hear it did you well,as any new car should,

what spec punto..??, ( the reg would help a future buyer..)

Charlie

New cars shouldn't have any problems in the first 3 years at least, apart from wear and tear parts such as tyres and brakes pad. Keeping the car serviced helps alot too.

Fiat Punto Evo Gp, i was going to put a link for where it was been sold at the garage and its already been resevred...

Yes got my self a new punto jet black mk2... and compared to the evo theres alot of improvments :)

Had to say bye bye to my punto evo last night. It was hard to let go :(

ST is its replacement.

Don't think I'll be welcomed on here anymore

That's true. I think fiat need to reconsider the Punto and assess where they're going with it to compete with rivals.

A brains out the window hot hatch is surely needed in the range.

that was "supposed" to be the idea with the "KIT" you get for the Abarth models..

upping the power ( at the price of emissions)

FIAT seem determined to be seen as holding onto their "greenest brand" title

They no longer do the Abarth.

I just cant see where theyre going with the punto. Having a choice of engines which all produce under 100bhp just seems ludicrous to me.

Its a shame really, its now becoming 'that forgotten hatchback'

Dare i say the koreans are taking over...

Have you seen the 500L, that's your punto replacement. Just needs a mad engine.
:banghead:

How I hate the 500L

Hard to blame you though. Fiat have let us down with the poor engine choices in the current range.

So true, im really surprised fiat have gone down this route while other car manufacturers are bringing out top end hot hatch motors. What fiat need to do is bring out their own hot hatch tag e.g Punto XSi, Punto GTi, Punto GTE etc (you get my meaning) and it should be 1.6 turbo.

They got the abarth but you goto go to speciazlise dealer to buy one which is a minus in my book. I just believe fiat are just losing too many buyers due to this

I understand your choice as others, Punto engine range is so poor now.

Happy for you and the ST. Good performance car, good price. Hope they are better built than MK6 (I had the 150HP Fiesta) because after 4 years, my mechanic was my best friend...

Nice color, hope you buy a Punto again if they made good engine in a future ;)

I did look at a fiesta ST before buying my punto, but end of the day it cost just way too much for me, on monthly payments, insurance costs and running. The Punto GBT is cheap and looks nice for my needs.

Fair point.

I'm into my driving and therefore know full well that its not going to be the cheapest thing to run. Getting 26mpg at the moment haha but I love it. I suppose its more a heart over head choice.

Still cheaper than a prostitute though :eek::eek:
