No screw in my cars.

Official way (if it is more clear for you, for me not really... I pull and shake the cover, more at rear, until it comes) :

So it's not screwed on then and will just pull off? I want to make sure as I don't want to snap anything

Is there some sort of trick to this or do I just go ahead and pull at the cover from the back end first giving a shake from left to right?

I tried and tried to wiggle and pull that part off but only managed to slightly put up one side but as soon as I let it go it pulls back together again

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

You're welcome.

But be serious 3 minutes : you are not thinking your car is bad for a 100$ sensor ??? You don't think buy a VW when the problem on your car is... a fu** Bosch electronic sensor ? Seriously ?

For your problem, was you able to disconnect the yaw sensor to see if the error change ?

If you cant solve it yourself, go to a Fiat dealer that know his job, ask he the cost and if it's correct let him do the job, it probably will not cost an arm and a leg...

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

Like I say, I don't even know if it is that specific sensor that is the problem so it's going to cost 100+ to change that possibly, then 70 to test for faults, the cars only 4 years old. Takes 3 weeks to figure out how to take a plastic handbrake cover off :P I don't understand why there isn't a Haynes manual for this car!?

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

I understand your point of view.

Once the plastic cover removed, changing the sensor is easy : two bolts.
Buying a sensor on ebay for less than 100$ is easy, too. You can make the exchange, if don't work better, back on ebay for selling.
This is the simplest/cost effective way I think.

You're right, a manual will be a good thing, and I'll be the second buyer after you.
But with electronic / electric on cars nowadays it's really difficult to repair/diagnose something without testing, software and good knowledge.

Yeah think I'll try that as soon as I manage to get the plastic cover off. Seen the sensors for 30 and that is why I don't want to go to fiat to get ripped off, it's a shame there is not a specialist in my area

Hey, I think I have found the problem, fixing it is the question.

It seems that I have noticed after removing the plastic shroud one of the wires to the yaw sensor has snapped of so it seems like this is the problem after all

How would I go about fixing this?

Can the plastic end connector be dismantled to re-insert the wire?

Would I have to buy a new connector end and then cut the wires and then solder or crimp them to the new end?Click image for larger version

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

Hey, happy you was able to open the central plastic to gain access to this sensor !

For the connector yes it can be possible to open it, but it's always hard to find were lock are. And when you see them, you need small tools they can do the trick to unlock.

Do you have any markings on connectors ? To find documentation on Internet, and to see how it's assembled.

Rear look like Mate-N-Lock connectors. The pin should come off from back, the yellow seal should come with. Cable and seal should be crimped to the contact.
