As we've been having the typical British summertime weather a lot recently, the wipers have been in use quite a lot. What's really annoying is how loud the relay is that controls them. It sounds a lot like this:

I would look at changing the relay, but upon looking, it seems that there is a metal plate that is pop riveted to the inside of the car, with a small cutout for access to the fuses. The bit where the relay's are is covered.

I know the clicking issue has been mentioned before, but there wasn't really a definitive solution found. Any one else got the clicking and the metal plate in the way? The type and rating of the relay is also appreciated if anyone knows it :)

Hello,

As you say, already discussed :

First : we have to find where the relay is (I think behind the wheel, integrated into switches controls)
Second : find/make a solid state relay (with electronics) if we can change it !

I'm guessing your's is LHD Mkala? I'm 90% sure mine are in the glovebox, which would correspond to the location on yours.

I'm okay with changing relays, just need to know whether they're soldered on or just push in ones. And of course, how to get access to it :)

Exactly, mine is LHD. You are right this can be possible.

To access relays not sure how you have to do, as I have not a RHD; please make pictures.

For relay, it's not so easy because depending size and ratings, not sure at all a solid state relay exist. But if standard shape perhaps I can make one, I like electronics :) And sure an electronic one will not make any noise at all ;)
