Hello,

I have the following problem, namely, I changed the cylinder head of the FIAT Punto 1.3 MJTD year 2010. I made a new bed for the valves, put new teflons, a new gasket between the block and head, the old gasket + sealant paste between the cyilinder head and the head cover. The replacement gears and chain tensioners. All cleand, clean and tidy and did double check. Now, for a few days it troubles me to see the car has low oil pressure. Oil is the new Selenia, also replaced the thermostat, oil pump remained the same, I cleaned it (lid and strainer - as far as it can), before worked normal. Sensor for measuring the pressure of oil was also replaced. From engine no leaks and drips, but it is very strange because if you take away the sensor for oil pressure, oil syringeflows out from there and I do not see what is the problem.
But I checked with air and I let the air pressure in the pipe where there is oil level gauge.
Findings is as follows. Air is rounded and comes out where the sensor for the oil pressure is as well as on the top cover. But I saw that the camshaft has very little oil or almost nothing, and they squeak, which of course is not ok
Oil pump looks like it works as well as return in the event of excessive pressure.
Sump is not swamped.
Oil filter was changed, I verified the new and old one and are ok.
If I blow pressurized air in the block, where the oil directly from the pump goes in, air exit also in the place where the sensor for the oil pressure is and also on the top of the lid, where the sensor for the cam is.
Again, I checked the pressure and is showing between 0.25 and 0.5. If you add a little throttle then is about 1 bar. I've tried with the old filter and is identical. Now I have three options namely, oil pump, cylinder head or head gasket. I do not know how to try to check the oil pump whether it is ok or not. Excluding the pump then remains only two possibilities.
Has anyone of you have any idea?

Thank you for answers and additional questions in advance.

Kind Regards

Goran

Hello,

Seem complicated to diagnose remotely a so serious issue, with multiple possible factors.

If no pipe is obstructed, there are two possibilities : pump cant make sufficient pressure (problem with oil pump) / pump cant suck correctly oil.

The strainer is in plastic ? Read a post in the punto evo section, a member had a issue : the seal between the strainer and the entry of oil pump was not good, pump sucks air and pressure is way too low...

It's an idea, but it's more easy to check this than the re-change head gasket.
