Afternoon,

After much deliberating, I won't be getting the Abarth, but I am looking at an evo :)

Going to see it over the weekend, perhaps you could advise on a few must do checks, any particular weak spots, etc.

The car is a 2010 1.4 multiair, in GP trim, 30k miles on the clocks...

Had mine 10mnths and 18k miles driven. The multair engine is a gem in 105 bhp form it is economical and nippy. easy to maintain and service without the risk of turbos going pop. Sensible choice by me as i do a lot of miles cheaper to run than my previous alfa 159 diesel.
Two things i have done
1. Mudflaps all round- does help and look good
2. Fitted centre arm rest "A must for me for relaxed driving position whilst on motorway"

Only had ours a month, impressed with the Multiair so far. Very smooth, still getting used to it though.

We've had a 53 reg 1.2 8v Punto Active since new that no.2 son is now driving, it felt more responsive than the Multiair has at first but I think that's just a case of getting used to the 8v/16v difference plus the gearing is different.

Much better equipped than the Active though.

Well, we got home safe and sound, picked the car up and drove it 400 miles today...

Initial impressions... a bit mixed, but overall positive.

Ride quality, way way better, as well as the steering.
Mirrors offer fantastic visibility (despite vibrating a tiny bit),
More torque, it was nice not having to drop 1-2 gears at a thought of an incline,
I like the bluetooth already :)
Car is susceptible to crosswinds*
Driving position was a bit awkward at first, but pretty good when readjustes and used to.

Engine... it's not as rev happy as the 1.2 (might miss that a little), and the gear ratios are different, probably need to get used to.

Gearbox is better, to shift into first you just go: "left and up" instead of "east and north" :D

Fuel consumption... computer showed 42mpg at the end of the ride, and the petrol light came on after 400 miles, to be honest I expected slightly better mpg's, but it has to be said that the conditions were awful (heavy rain and winds).

There might be an issue with the start/stop system, it does not kill the engine, but weirdly, when I've accidentally stalled the car, it did restart.

I have found a thread on here and will go through the manual later, if not I'll dig out the warranty :yum:
getting used to it though.

My sentiments exactly... :)

Congrats on new car..!! VERY similar to my thoughts,

I've got the 85HP Twinair, having come from a 2002 1242 8V punto2,

like it all ,

leave the S+S switched on it should "adapt" as you use it.. not fantastic = but will work in fits + starts..,
have to agree about crosswinds too,
you MAY find the phone on B+M works well BUT no message reader..,
depending on phone,

Charlie
