My car performs fine and I'm getting up to 33mpg out of it as I only ever drive it about town. It's just rather annoying that ticking sound because when you give it some revs it makes the car sound like a heap of junk when you would generally expect a nice clean rev. Would be nice to pin point exactly what it is!!!
Hi, ill let you know what the garage say tomorrow. What ever is causing the noise it isnt normal . Seems like there could be quite a few different reasons for it with varying severity.

My local Fiat garage are excellent, really helped out my one friend when his grande punto was having problems, turned out to be a simple fix which cost him about 20 for the part and didn't even charge him the labour as it was a 5 minute fix! This was after another garage said it was going to cost around 1.5k to fix!

The noise really shouldn't be happening on a 3 year old car. Hope it's fixable or I will be rejecting the car under SOGA

Re: URGENT - Newly purchased sporting 135 multiair making strange ticking sound

If they have access to the car for a couple of hours and use of ramp,
they should be able to rule-out a LOT of stuff and get a general location of the noise.

if it's in the head /area it MAY need more investigation, but you can use a tube as a "stethoscope" to pin point MOST noises,

do let us know what they find,
and the quote..!!

Thanks, that would be very helpful, my fiat dealership are absolutely terrible. When I took it in still under factory warranty and dealership warranty from when I bought it they were saying they'll have to get it up on the ramp and have a look, I thought fair enough that's fine, but then when she said it'll cost 70 quid I thought no thanks. I have had a few queries with my car but it seems a wasted effort taking it in as they have no desire to help me out. But we'll see what they say about yours and hopefully they'll find an easy solution! Cheers

Covered under the dealers warranty. They did try and get Fiat to cover some as the cost but they refused as its just outside their warranty period

Is it still covered by Fiat's warranty? If you complained about the problem during the warranty period and they said it was fine when it wasn't surely they would have to cover the cost if it did turn out to be a fault?

Re: URGENT - Newly purchased sporting 135 multiair making strange ticking sound

Well new turbo unit has totally solved the problem.

Technician said it was the valve inside the turbo rattling, not sure if he meant the diaphragm for the waste gate or something else?

No problem, just let us know how it goes!

I managed to diagnose the problem by using a similar method show in this video

Not sure if the aftermarket forge actuator would cure the problem. Worth a shot if the turbo is out of warranty I guess!
