Hello

Just after a bit of advice for my parents Punto. It is just within the 3rd year warranty still and they have been advised that "a spring/bolt has gone in the mount of the suspension, and so they need to replace the mount. Cost for this is £108.22"

There is a noticeable knocking noise when turning the steering wheel, like a conking sound so asked the garage to look today when it was in for its MOT. I had the same/similar issue on my MiTo and the front shock absorbers were replaced and this solved it.

It's booked in the the dealers on Monday and I'm taking it down for them however the chap on the phone insisted that only certain things are covered by 3rd year warranty (which I knew) and wasn't sure if this would be. Any ideas?

Thanks

Austen

According to the handbook, it wont cover things like wheel balancing, alignments, exhaust emissions ...... locks, bodywork seals or mountings.

Maybe they would include a suspension mount in this list. The 3rd year warranty does seem to be quite restrictive.

Will have to wait and see on Monday when it's booked in. It seems the 3rd year warranty is a bit pointless. I remember it being pretty poor on my Alfa.

It seems the Punto build quality is nothing like that of my Bravo but maybe something improved on the 2012 - facelift models. The Bravo was solid in comparison to the Punto.

This is definately a covered item within the 3rd year warranty, provided in your name of course, will be if bought from new or from a Fiat dealer.

Suprise, suprise the dealer could not find a fault despite the clear noise and diagnoses from my regular mechanic, who was the one that suggested going back to Fiat to have it done under warranty, so completely honest as always and not trying to make money for nothing.

On another note the passenger seat handle for access in to the back has also stopped working, maybe a cable has come undone or something, however the dealer are finding out if this is a warranty item. Anyone know if it is in 3rd year?

Whilst I was waiting I took a look at the very limited selection in the showroom. I cannot believe how few models and engines choices are now available. In the Punto the salesman said there is only the 1.2 8v and 1.4 8v petrols now available with no mention of the 1.3 Multijet which was odd. He also said about the 500L being disappointing and reported very few sales, at their showroom anyway. Hardly surprising to hear!
