A minor question... when collecting my car from the Fiat dealership tomorrow (2011 plate not brand new) should I expect a tank of fuel? Or would that be a bit too much?
In my eyes I should as it is alot of money to spend but what are others opinions?

Deposit hasn't been paid yet, Won't be paying anything till I have fuel and mats I think.
Don't ask you don't get I guess..

ask they can always say no..

If they do negotiate a discount on first service or something...

if not walk away..

bet you don't get home before your phone starts ringing

Play them at their own game.. I looked at one evo which i was told someone was coming to buy it tomorrow.... It had been on the forecourt over a month.....

anyway gone 12am phone rung....

"Do i still want the car?".... "Er im sure you told me you was selling it this morning "

then err i pointed out a few concerns...

Half a tank i think they have to sell it with, unless it came in with a full tank when they bought it.

I was sold it with 10l of Petrol and had to barter hard for car mats (they didn't even give me Fiat ones!!) as he was adamant that they had the wrong price sticker on the window, I may have believed him if someone else hadn't tried the same line on another car in the same garage.

In the end I got £15 of fuel in the car and when I go in with the V5 from my old car when it is posted they said I can have mats for 'trade price'.
Can get Punto evo ones with the drivers locking bit on eBay for £20 ish so not paying any more than that!

On a positive note the car is sooooo much better on fuel than my MX5, obviously way less exciting but that was obviously always going to be the case.
Love the blue and me, no problems as of yet.
*Touch wood *

Not sure where you got this from

They don't have to give it to you with any fuel, they're selling you a car, not an oil refinery, most cars I've brought have been on fuel reserve. I never bother with full tank of fuel, I get all my discounts elsewhere on a sale ;)

Interesting one.

In my opinion, I don't think dealers should necessarily have to play ball on the day a car is picked up. This sort of thing should IMO be negotiated before then, unless of course the car is not up to scratch upon handover and you are looking for a bit of compensation.

Dealers often get stick on here (and in many cases rightly so), but I don't think I could blame them for not wanting to budge on the day.

As for mats, our old 500 didn't come with any and I rather naively thought that they would. So when we got our Panda last year, I specifically made sure that the mats were included when agreeing to buy the car.

On the other hand, my sister in law got her 500 late last year and they fitted mats for her without being asked. So I guess sometimes it is just the luck of the draw!
