2010 Punto Evo 1.4 multijet.

Car is in garage and according to mechanics the multiair unit is the chief suspect.
They've contacted Fiat and apparently a multiair unit is only suppliod with a new cylinder head, and at a cost of £1190!!

Is that possibly correct?

YES - that IS bad news..,

start a new thread in the TECH section , with "multiair unit" as the subject line,

I'm sure others have been in your situation before and may know the score,
good luck,
Charlie

Thanks, I will

I'd also contact Fiat Customer service and say that even though its out of warranty (only just) and something as important as the Multi Air unit shouldn't fail so soon esp if it should really last the life of the car. Other manufacturers have helped out owners in the past. Always worth getting in touch.

my friend i have the same problem . Did you pay for the damage ? if not can you tell me how you reached fiat ? (email , phone ...)

I went through my local Fiat dealers butt couldn't secure a discount because of the mileage, 75,000.

ENDEd UP COSTING £1200 :(

What makes me more nervous is that i have sent more than four emails and nobody has never answered me even typically . This is not a serious customers policy so i will never buy a Fiat again !

its not realy the fault of the make of car is it.

grab the bull by the horns.. and go speak to these in person
they can ignore emails but they carnt ignore you if you speak with them
face to face.

As far as i was aware the multiair unit is a seperate unit and not supplied with the cylinder head.

I am wanting to put an end to Fiat and Alfa owners being at the mercy of the dealers if the unit fails. I strongly believe the unit is modular and therefore would be easy to swap failed components. If anyone is able to get me a failed multiair unit that i could disect then i would be extremely gratefull. I might even be able to contribute a small amount towards the repair costs.
