Hey, sorry for the long delay. I've only just seen this.

Erm...it wasn't good news. The dealership politely told me to jog on, basically. They did say the only thing they could/would do is sell me a replacement key at cost price. They reckon that's still £230 though.

I've decided I'm gona admit defeat and buy it anyway eventually.

So i've put a deposit on a 100hp panda then since realised it doesn't come with the remote fob and only has 1 key. Reading the above has now got me worried, i really want the car but what sort of cost am i gunna face to get a replacement fob and key and possibly reprogrammed to stop anyone that may have the original fob/key getting into the car?

Main dealer will be your best place to ask for costs (y)

i am not sure if this is still current but my missus kindly lost her remote flip, she was using the flat key and has now succesfully lost that so the car is now an ornament ,if anyone can help it would be much appreciated , its a 2008 bravo , my biggest issue is that we live in orkney , nearest dealer is over 250 miles and a ferry ride away and i need to get it started to even get it there , ooops !!

Sorry to say you have a skip on wheels at the moment.
I would say your best bet is to contact a breakers and get a complete second hand set up sent over to you.

I can see a dealer keeping a spare if they are financing a poor credit customer. I'm not sure that is ethical, but it sure makes repossesion (for loan default) much easier and with less risk of damage. I do think such tactics should be disclosed so that the customer knows. The first time I lost a key and talked to Lombard Locksmith, he said to bring all the working keys for the vehicle with me when I come to get a replacement. He explained that when they know of a lost key situation, they like to remove all the encoding from previous keys and then re-install the codes for the only keys that I have on hand. That provides protection from a lost key that might really have been stolen.
