Recently purchased a 2010 Evo and I have just noticed the boot lamp doesnt work
Tested Bulb = OK
On both wires on the lamp housing no earth or battery condition
So I extracted the boot plunger switch ( attached) to find no wires attached)

Am I going mad, where are the terminals for this switch.
Is this a dummy item to cover up the bodywork hole ?

Any ideas

The boot release button on my dash is a blank

Key fob opens boot Ok

So I now realise this switch was for the boot release, but what actuates to boot lamp then
or
are you saying that this switch not only opens the boot but also switches on the lamp

As I said before the lamp wires have no + or -ve on them
The interior courtesy lamp is OK, so it cant be the fuse

What spec you got does yours have the boot badge release ? Eg press the fiat badge and the boot opens

Yes, press the Fiat badge and it opens

Model - Punto Evo 5dr 1.4 8v GP

Nope !

What we really need is the wiring diagram to show what actually puts power to this lamp
I will search the net

Chances are its the boot latch at fault then there is a micro switch in there and with the outer skin of the gp family been as watertight as bog roll water can get into lock housing corroding the switch

Only had chance for a very quick read (Link url) but it looks promising
I will spend more time on Monday to digest info

The car is still under warranty, so I may call in to the local Fiat workshop and just see what they know about this conundrum

Thanks for all your advice and patience, much appreciated

The answer lies here

Consequently no idea what that plunger is for

I believe this plunger is to pop up the boot a bit so you can slide your fingers through the gap below to open it, as the Punto doesn't have any sort of handles on the boot for you to lift and open.

The light switch on the side doors is at the latch. I believe it should be the same for the boot.
