Hi, my Evo air con fan works - its quite cool but when all 4 dash vents are open its not really very powerful.

Is there some way of increasing the airflow output?

I.E. is the fan itself a full 12v or does it use an inline resistor on full setting to keep the voltage lower than 12v?

Cheers.

Hello,

It would be hard to do, because the fan already have a high output @12V full rev. Increasing this mean make a high power DC/DC step converter up to rise voltage (but motor life will be dramatically short) or find a more powerfull one (don't know how you could do this)

After this, even if you can do something with airflow, this does not mean that you could make you car more cold : A/C installation had a definite cooling output, forcing more air to exchanger mean this air would be less cold: cooling power remain the same (more cool & less air == more air & less cool).

Best solution is to check if you current installation works great, as Most Easterly Pandas said check filter or if air intake has not something in.
And yes in position 4 the fan is direct @12V

I've noticed something similar with my aircon. I rarely have passengers, so just close the passenger window vent, and left hand central vent.

But, try this wee trick: Turn aircon on, set whatever speed you want (i use max), wait 20 seconds or so until it's blowing cool air, then hit the 'recirculate air' button - the one that uses air from the cabin instead of outside air. Result = immediate 'power' boost from the aircon, and it also seems to run a lot cooler too for some reason, as an added bonus :D

I have full leather interior, so you can imagine how hot that is at the moment when it's been sitting in the sun !

I've taken to starting engine, sticking aircon on to max speed and doing the above for another 30 seconds or so to cool the cabin down, then I get in and drive off. You can then turn it back to outside air and turn the speed down to 1 or 2 and it keeps things nice and cool :)

Slight problem now - it stinks of cat pee.

Yet its been fine for weeks.

I also have water dripping under the car, just behind the cat but it seems to be coming from above.

Any suggestions guys?

Also where do I get to the pollen filter?

You're using your AC, water is normal and nothing to worry about, its coming off of the evaporator.

Cat pee is the system needing cleaning out, Won't normally be the pollen filter.

You need to buy and use one of these (y)

Excellent, that's a worry off my mind - I went over something that went ding last week.

I'll order one of those, however what do I do with it?

Yes recirc worked.

Re the bomb, following these instructions http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/112310583/Air_Con_Cleaner_Automatic_Air_Con.html

I dont think it has anything to do with the problem, the smell goes away if I change to recirc, so IMO it wont get to the bit that smells/has bacteria.

When you had a new filter fitted which type was used? The OEM fiat one is a thin paper element filter some after market filters are a combined paper and carbon element which is much thicker thus reduces air flow

Have you checked there's not some dead thing stuck in your radiator or something ? :D

@ Andy, not sure about the filter being an issue... I too find my aircon is kinda 'weak' when it's on outside air, but excellent when on recirc, and I'm still using the OEM filter that the car came with.

Or, does putting it on recirc bypass the filter altogether ?

I have no idea Andy, it was done during a service (or so I paid....).

Where is it? I cant find it and the manual says get Fiat to change it :(

I wish there was a haynes for these cars...

Ran it on hot for 10 mins and it went away.

Although I smelt it a little today, it didnt last long.
