Good afternoon folks,

Having recently bought a Punto evo 2010 from the car people, it came with a number of problems which the car people were absolutely SHI:eek:T at fixing (the fiat warranty has expired)

Having managed to sort out most of the issues, i'm still having issues with the wipers. The bottom end of the drivers wiper judders and flaps around when wiping the screen. Occasionally after prolonged usage, they both (drivers and passengers) begin to squeak when going into the parking position at the bottom of the screen.

List of things I've done: Cleaned the blades, changed the blades, cleaned the screen, polished the screen with some autoglym glass polish. As far as I can tell, the arms seem fine and move smoothly, but that's not a 100%

I always use screen wash and not just water when washing. Is there anything else I can try? It is worth noting that the blades I changed to were halfords ones. I would be willing to try the bosch ones if i knew that they would solve the issue.

I don't think it would be worth vying new blades, I use halfords ones and they run fine. I'm no expert so sorry I can't help

put some halfords own brand on my sisters 500 and they are shockingly poor... the passenger side one wont even sit flat.......

Just put the bosch aero on my evo last night £19.49 (or if you know some one who has a trade card £9.75)

its silent and clears the screen well

I would try your luck and return the blades you bought and see if they will exchange them.... (no harm in asking)

Thanks for your input chaps, i'll pick up some new blades and a bottle of the glass stuff tomorrow and i'll report back.

Two questions:

I tried the smaller blade in place of the bigger blade today, and although it is too small, it did operate smoothly. Are the blades too big and could I get a smaller blade for the drivers side?

I was going to check the thing regarding the grease within the electrical connections, in the grande punto guide regarding juddering wipers, however i couldn't find it in the evo. Is it definitely in the same place?

Thanks Again

I've always had wiper judder on the drivers side on my Bravo towards the bottom/right end of the blade. No matter what I do, it always comes back. Same on my MiTo as well. Just got used to it and put it down to a characteristic! A nice waxed screen hardly needs wiping anyway at 40+ mph.

Out of curiosity, what do you wax your screen with?

Various products really, however the wiper judder is worse when nothing is applied. At the moment I have Mer Rain Away on the screen which is excellent. Sometimes give it a polish with Autoglym glass polish or some other waxes. When it's polished/waxed visibility is much better and reduces the need to use the wipers.

I used glass cleaner last night and also used a rubber cleaning citrus oil which strips all chemicals off the blades..... Still judders! So just applied another coat of Rain Away.

Thanks for that.

What I can't understand, however, is why some Evo's have wiper judder and some don't! Really can't understand it

Update:

Just been and bought some of the Bosch aero ones. On first opening, they feel much more substantial and beefy to begin with. Once on, they much smoother, with the exception when wiping on a dry screen, when there is a slight bit of judder. I suppose that this can be understood.

I'll wait for the rain to come before i'm finally happy. Sods law we'll get a heatwave now! HA!

Total spent on wiper blades......£65:mad:
