Punto Evo GP ISF Problem

Help, I bought my punto 10 months ago and I have now had enough of it.
It is only just 2 years old but I am having regular faults with it that the garage have yet to rectify.
Sometimes when I start my car in the morning the engine really struggles. It stutters, has no power and can cut out completely. After driving for a few minutes and trying to really put my foot on the throttle It clears and is then ok ish.
The 'Injection System Fault' light comes on and the warning light comes on. I also sometimes get a 'check engine' message.
Because of the intermittent nature of the problem, the garage are struggling to fix the fault.
They have so far changed one of the coils and updated the software on the engine. Hasn't worked!!!
Really fed up.....

Re: Punto Evo GP ISF Problem

what fault code?

if its intermittent and you have a android phone:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-...item1e7954c1dc

and download androd torque pro lite i think its called...

get the code and give it to the garage...

if its the 1.2 or 1.4 8v i would hazzard a guess at the MAP sensor but pointless just replacing parts till you find the fault

Re: Punto Evo GP ISF Problem

Hi, thanks for replying...
My engine is a 1.4 Multiair 16V GP, think there is supposed to be a turbo in there somewhere too.
There hasn't been a fault code displayed, just says 'Check Engine'.

Any advice would be fab, now got my car booked in at the garage for Friday but would be good to take some ideas in with me

No thats the engine management light. You need to get a fault reader for when it comes on!

On another note i had a similair problem earlier... I have a grande punto t jet and i was driving along and then the car suddenly bogged down and started juddering like a misfire. Then afew seconds later it stopped.
The engine management light flickered on and off but the problem wasnt there long enough for it to register a code.
I had a coil fail recently which caused a similair problem but obviously a permanant misfire.

The multiair is a turbo like the tjet. Could be a similair problem.

Unhappy Re: Punto Evo GP ISF Problem

I've been trying to trawl through the other posts on the forum.
A few people mention similar problems and the possibility of oil in the spark plugs????
Any thoughts?
Wish i'd of stayed with my old diesel.........

Just thought, i've already had one coil changed, how many does it have??

4 in total from memory (im sure those new multi airs are 4 cylinder)

the code light will reset itself after i think its 3 "clean" runs....

Just the look on the garage mechanics face when you tell them the car is throwning a P1111 error for example is usually priceless

Re: Punto Evo GP ISF Problem

Where do I get the error codes from??
So far thinking it might be...
Spark plugs - oil contamination
Fuel injectors
Or
Gasket
???

Yup, multiairs are 4 pots, its the twinair's that are the 2 pots.
Also Andy, I think its actually 15 clean runs? I know vauxhall and fords are around that number anyway.

I can pretty much guarantee that you don't have the turbocharged variant of the multiair since you have the GP (Special edition) and not a sporting.

As for multiair faults, can't say that there has been that many posted on here about them. mine (touches wood) has been great albeit slightly juddery when in the height of winter and when the engine is cold. But as previous member has suggested, without a fault code, we can't help unfortuantely.
