Hi Guys,

I have got another problem, went to replace an old battery on my Fiat Punto evo GP 1.4 8v with a new Exide battery and now the car will not start.

There is a padlocked car symbol on the dash and the display, displays "fuel cut off unavailable". The central locking works, the radio works, but when I turn the key in the ignition, all the dash lights come on as normal but nothing further happens, the car does not turn over, there is no sound at all!.
I tried the spare key (no buttons, flat key), the same thing happens, bugger!!:bang:
Help!!!

Well when you have a crash there is a system designed to cut off the fuel (and therefore the engine). It seems if this system isn't working then it automatically cuts the fuel. On older models there is a switch to re-engage this but I can't find mention of it in the handbook. Worth checking the fuses in the meantime until someone comes back with a more appropriate reply.

Does the car have a stop/start system in it? Cause if it does u need the specific batter for stop start, otherwise car won't even tick over
