Hi I recently bought a Fiat Punto evo GP and I noted after a few weeks of driving that I never had the start/stop function work.
I read on theses forums that there are numerous parameters that the car engine management system needs to tick before it activates the system So I persevered, however I just found out that the battery is only 43ah.... No wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its the wrong battery, I have been suckered (private sale), oh well!!

So I have bought a battery EXIDE EL700 110 ECM (70ah) from JCB Just car Batteries in Preston

http://www.justcarbatteries.co.uk/i...o-hybrid-ecm/exide-el700-110-ecm-battery.html

I mentioned that I was a Fiat Forum member and they gave me 7.5% off, result, chuffed!! Fiat wanted £145!!!

Yep, and tested it before and even my cheap tester with 4 lights said it needed it.

wasnt talking to you :p

its imperative for the correct function of the start stop for it to "learn" from a fully charged battery (once fully charged it should be left for 1 to 2 hours to allow any surface charge to dissipate)

Hi Guys,

Well yep!, I charged it over night and will install Saturday. Its amazing how much it needed. Thanks for the info about the car needs to learn from a full charged battery.
Its amazing what you learn, I wonder what the fuel savng will be once the stop/start is fully operational!

when you take the old battery off leave the car for an hour this should clear the ecu/ body computer/ ss system so it starts with a fresh sheet so to speak (y)

you will probably find the car behaves strangely for a few miles till it learns and settles down (y)
