Hi all.......just a query..my Evo 1.2 petrol is now 12 months old and has done 14000 miles.I have just had a letter from my dealer saying its due for its Annual service.I thought I only had to have it done at 18000 miles or 2 yrs?.If I have it done will I have to have it done again when its at 18000 miles? And If its not done till then will it effect the warranty? I would prefer to have it done at 18000....confused......

The book says 180000 miles or 2 years so I dont understand why my dealer is saying its due for an Annual service?

With mine i have a full service once a year and interim every 18k.

I would highly recommend having a full service once a year just for peace of mind.

Its similar to the cambelt intervals. Think its 90k or 5 years for my car but personally id never let it get past 60k/4years.

Edit: just seen a post by Andy Montey and it appears 18k/2years is correct however Fiat recommend it be serviced every year.

Not the other way around? I'm confused as to why you'd do this tbh, what if you do mile like the OP, means you'd have an annual service and then another only a few months later.

My Bravo is getting one every 18k, but then I do 20-25k a year so its required. Oil is changed as per hand book, which is when the car tells me, or 2 years at the latest.

Sorry just to clarify, Full service every year, if I happen to do 18k in lets say 5 months I'd then only get an interim service etc..

So for example, I had a full service In April, I did 18k by the end of August so had an interim service done then. Getting closer to the second 18k so will have yet another interim service. Then a full service again in April.

it is every 2 years or 18k fiat do recommend that you service it yearly but it is not going to affect your warranty.. (or so fiat told me)

have a read of this thread:

of course the dealers are going to say its service time.... £££££ ;) One further bit of advice once you know what you need service wise ring a 50 mile or so radius then play the price is right game with your local dealer..... :)

Yeah thanks for that......I think I will wait till its done nearly 18000 miles and have it serviced then.If thats what the book says I dont see the point of paying for a:) service now and then another one a few months later!

I've a 1.2 Punto too and one of the reasons I bought it was because it was sold to me as only needing a service every two years or 18,000 miles whichever came sooner, but this isn't the case. I've contacted Fiat UK (or whatever its called) several times to clarify and they've told me that my car needs a yearly service in order to maintain the warranty so that 18,000 or 2 years is complete ********!

I've just had a second service (at 18,000 miles) on a 'low mileage' plan costing £228 and going by the print out they gave me, they've done nothing other than change the spark plugs and pollen filter and topped-up the oil.

If I had time, I would shop around for a local independent, but I don't. As soon as its out or warranty, I'll get it serviced elsewhere.

Thanks............I was told the same when I bought mine.Looks like I will have to have it serviced now....................

Page 213 of the Evo handbook clearly states servicing is once every 30k/km an annual oil change only being required if

(2) If the car is mainly used in towns and cities, change the engine oil and filter every 12 months.
(3) If the car is mainly used in cities or travels less than 10,000 km a year, change the engine oil and filter every 12 months.

I'd have said the dealer is having you on myself!

Yearly, first service should only be £130-170 anyway.

Brake fluid should be changed ( 2 years) regardless of mileage!

sounds to me that even Fiat dont know they told me 2 yearly or 18k glad i got it in writing ;)

Yeah think you're right mate: car manual says one thing, Fiat UK say something different and according to the 'service-due indicator' in my car, at 18,000 miles, I still had another 1,200 miles to go before a service was due so who do you believe??

Well to cut a long story short

2years old got a letter from supplying dealer saying it needed a major service.. any how i wasn't happy with the level of "service" i got from them including with them mucking about with the stuff in my car....

so i decided to shop about

one fiat dealership wanted £400+ :bang:

another said as i was only on about 9k miles and the car was 2 years old and low mileage i could just have a minor service £120 ish

rung SG Petch at York.. and the very nice service lady ascertained i had serviced it when it was 1 year old and done about 6k in the last year so it wouldn't need servicing for another year or when it hit 18k miles and she referred me to the service handbook,,,,,

so to double check i use the live chat and speak to a fiat customer service via messenger

Just a quick update...phoned main dealer to book it in for the yearly service and they said it only needed a yearly service if car has done low miles...9000 ish .As my car has done 14000 miles I only need to book it in at 18000mls or 2 yrs as per the handbook!Result...........They also said they normally send letters out yearly to remind people....................:)
