I currently own a F500 1.4 ,and I was thinking of trading it in to buy the above mentioned punto evo. Thing is I dont know a thing about them! Can someone help please. All info and thoughts would be very valuable.

Start with the usual:

Check for overspray, bare metal, damaged metal, anything that looks strange and shouldn't be there.

Check for a "rippled" roof where the metal of the roof has been damaged.

Check Headlight alignment and ALL "Shut" lines (Where the panels meet each other)

Worth noting the make of the tyres, any budget or "Ditchfinders" shows sign of skimping.

Check the exhaust fumes for any steam when warmed up for 15 minutes (Head gasket failure) or any signs of excessive BLUE smoke as thats a sign of the engine burning oil (Turbo bearing seal failure or valve stem oil seal failure).

A funny colour of coolant (The UK used "Paraflu" which is red). A funny colour might be a caramel or milky. That shows Head Gasket failure aswell.

The Sporting was fitted with the undertray/weatherguard and a couple of plastics at either side.

Some others might have other input, but thats the basis I'd be checking.

My advice would be to buy one! After moving up from my 1.4 entry level evo, the Sporting was a great step.

Economic, quick, good looking, easy to maintain, decent servicing costs...etc etc
