the only dislike i have about my punto evo is that theres no rear interior lights which can be a bit of a pain at night with two kids in car seats, so anyway can i run a light off the front interior lights will it just be 12v dc or is there any canbus stuff preventing me from doing this only ive heard crap about people fitting leds that dont work or stay on dim constantly etc although i will be using a normal 12v festoon type bulb with a bulb holder fixed into/onto the roof lining somehow

thanks in advance

If you run LED with load resistor in parallel to the festoon bulb, I can't see there being any problems. but running in series, you will encounter dim bulbs as the LED's need a load resistor even though the incandescent bulb is there.

If you are using another festoon type or capless type bulbs then there wont be a problem if run in parallel, again, in series will cause problems.

awesome thats great thanks have an endless supply of festoon bulbs and holders through work (we convert vans into fridges, ovens etc) thats next weekends project sorted :D

The Grande Punto (high spec models such as Eleganza) did have a rear interior light, mounted in the centre of the roof lining.

Our Eleganza had this (as well as puddle lights in the doors) but Fiat seemed to have removed this when it became the Evo.

The light unit was the simple one from the 500. If you can purchase one of these and locate the mounting point mid-roof, it should be as simple as running some wires.

Hi,
I'm wondering if someone can help clarify for me. My Evo sporting has the skydome full glass sunroof. There is a small amount of roof lining between the front and rear sunroof panels. It has a small plastic bung in the centre. Removing it shows what looks to me like a fixing for the glass roof. I'm not sure whether there would be space to fit a light.
The ePer parts catalog shows the position for a rear courtesy light to be at the rear above the back seat back (which would have to bee at the back of the rear sunroof panel on my car). Apparently it's only fitted for 5 door models.
I've looked, but I've never come across a 5 door Evo with a light at the back, all have been Active models). Can't find a high spec 5 door to look at.
Does anyone on this forum have an Evo with a rear courtesy light?
Cheers.
