I have a 1.4 Evo Punto Active, firstly is this a good model or is it just the base? I know it sounds stupid but I needed a car desperately and this seemed good value for money etc.

However recently it has started a brief squeak on startup regardless of it being hot or cold. Sounds like a belt, possibly alternator. Can anyone confirm this or give other suggestions?

Not sure on the squeak BUT will be more likely be the auxiliary belt needing tightened

As for the spec, it goes:

3DR: Active -> Dynamic? -> Sporting
5DR: Active -> Dynamic? -> Eleganza
Special: MyLife (1.2 8v) 3&5DR

You need to ring the dealer.

This happened to me in my car.

Turns out i need a whole new alternator unit and belt.

Get it sorted because the belts had a fault with them, if you ignore it like me, your car might really struggle to start!
