Just bought a new Punto EVO 3-dr 1.4 easy on finance. I was putting in my new mats when I noticed a bulge in the passenger side floor at the back of the car. Took it to Arnold Clark and they told me it's just the way it's designed and that it's part of the gearbox, can anyone else confirm this for me and give me peace of mind. Thank you.

not sure but pictures would be handy.

But if its the REAR then its nothing to do with the gearbox as thats in the front slapped on the end of the engine.

Is this really universal? Or is he trying to pull a fast one on me?

You should not have this. I checked my Punto 2012 and I have not this (checked both sides, because I think yours is RHD; mine is LHD)

Can you sense something under the carpet ? Or this is the frame of the car ? Do you see something under the car ? (it can be bad jacked...)

I can feel something under the carpet. Looked underneath the car all looks normal but yea I'll be returning and having words with them then.

It is a good thing if it is ok under the car. But it is something wrong mounted....
They will need work to remove the carpet and fix the problem...

The garage have to fix this. Hope they will do well, keep us informed

Defiantly should not be like that, cant believe they told you that was the gearbox!:shakehead:

least if under the car is ok it rules out it been improperly jacked up and stoving the floor pan........

could be some rubbish from the production line under there

or a bad / flawed carpet

Just like to thank everyone for their replies, it does put me somewhat at ease knowing its probably just a bad carpet fit and hopefully not mechanically defected.

turned out to be a random piece of plastic :/

Strange. They fixed it ? All is ok now ?
