I have a Punto Evo 18months old with 8,500 miles on the clock from new.
It used to be quite quiet but just lately it has developed a tinny rattle on the nearside when traversing uneven roads at low speed.
It sounds like somebody lightly rattling a spanner or a tin lid between the jaws of a vice.
I carried out a thorough inspection, checking such as the exhaust heatshields which are all firmly in place, and found nothing else that appears to be obviously loose at all.
Anybody out there had the same problem?

my money would be on a defective / worn ARB link rod (drop link)

sometimes you can feel play in them or see a split rubber other times you cant see or feel anything untoward till its removed from the car..

but also take a good look at the front suspension spring and make sure its not broken safety first on all things suspension related ;)

Found the answer and it was so simple.
On the rear suspension is a cup shaped plate at the top that the coil spring butts up to when mounted. It has a small hole for drainage.
When checked it was found that a large stone had lodged in there so that every time I went over uneven roads this stone bounced around the cup making the rattling/tinkling noise I had been hearing.
Took the Fiat mechanic ages to find it and only then after a colleague remembered a similar problem on another car.
