Hi
can anyone help me please re battery constantly getting flat. Had my 1.4 evo for just 1 month - car is 9 months old. Battery goes flat after standing for 10 hours sometimes. Its been in garage for 1 week - they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Yesterday gone to garage again as battery drained overnight . Have checked boot light, glove light, unplugged my MP3 etc, but battery still goes flat.
the only thing I have added is rear parking sensors 1 month ago when I bought it, -put in by selling garage. Its a mega problem as I work shifts and to have a dead car at midnight is a nightmare for a lonesome girl... Any advice appreciated..

Could very well be a duff battery. They rely on the water level inside covering the plates in each cell to stored electricity. If a cell has split in the cold weather and the water leaked out, the battery will need replacing. Have a look down the sides of the battery for signs of leaking. Compartment its in should be dry. Most battery's these days are also 'maintenance free' but older ones will have a row of caps along the top which you can open to check the water level inside. If it is the older sort, open each cap WITH GLOVES ON and look inside. You should see water just covering the plates. If they're not, top up with DEIONISED WATER ONLY so it covers the plates. NOT TAP OR ANY OTHER WATER.

its in the garage at the moment trying to have faults diagnosed but I will check for leakage when it comes back. from what I recall its a newer type of battery.

Will be on a 2011. Sealed and maintenance free. Garage should pick it up though. Ask them to check the alternator is ok or the battery can't charge.

thank you. they said alternator was fine but battery was flat - worse they've had! they needed to charge again afterbattery flat from standing for 2 days, so hoepfully they will find the problem and solution tomorrow...

Sounds like a duff one. Even the best battery makers can't be 100 percent sure of perfection and so many stupid little things can kill one. Hope it gets resolved.

It's either the battery as others have said or there's current being drawn on the car while it's off which the garage should of tested? If there isn't it's simply the battery but if something on the car is drawing current while it's off you're going to throw another battery at it and nothing will change.

Hiya, yes ive had this problem from new, been in 3 times for charging over night, that was 3 times in 2 weeks and admited the battery was a duff one and had replaced with new, and no problem yet (3months on ) start stop etc all working fine now
