Thought I'd introduce myself and drop a post in regarding a problem I'm having and see what answers people come up with.

My names Deryck (most people refer to me as Chopster, last name Lamb, hence the connection) Live in the UK staffordshire area, but originally from south africa, and have driven a range of cars, most of them modified. Time to settle down however, as a little one is on the way so we went for the evo... love at 1st sight!

The issue that I have is that my evo, from new, only 6months old has developed a problem with a very low frequency vibration in the footwell underneath my feet.
The problem only occurs at 50 mph+ and it can only really be fealt on quite (smooth) roads. It's not continuous, it's almost like a mobile phone vibrating, and seems to increase it's vibration when turning to the right.
The vibration doesn't extend to the steering wheel, and it's not gearbox or drive train related. Put it in neutral, coast, and it keeps on going.

I've already taken it into the dealership, they had it for 2days and couldn't pick it up or find any problems. I took the mechanic for a drive but couldn't find a road suitable, and the service manager also took it for a spin with no result.

I'm thinking it's a bearing, either at the rear or front. But possibly a bent alloy thats causing the wheel to be unbalanced. Personally I'm reluctant to keep pestering the dealership as they said they've checked the vehicle thoroughly and also bearings, tire pressure etc.

Their response was to quite simply,"lets it get worse and come back". I think that's unacceptable. Even if the problem is a non-warranty fix, I still want it resolved.

Let me know what you chaps think. I otherwise havn't had any problems with the car and average 48mpg on a mixture of motorway and country roads.

Looking forward to some responses

Me personally would go to a tyre services and ask them to put each wheel on the balancer as it could be that a sticky weight has decided its had enough and wants to be like the birdies and go flying or as youve stated a buckled wheel (you should notice it on the balancer). Other than that, jack the car up yourself and see if you can find any problems with the bearings yourself.

Vibration is a difficult thing to find so if you have already done what ive suggested, just wait until it gets worse.
