Right, First off, The car is a sporting 135. Brought the car into my mates garage in perfect working condition. So I fit my mudflaps (What a Cnut of a job). I go to start it and the MFD (Multi-function display) showed "ASR Disconnected", "Start&Stop deactivated", "Hill Holder not working", "ESP Not working see handbook" and "Check Engine".

Anyone had this before or able to shed any light on it? I have currently got the battery disconnected to see if that will clear any fault codes stored in the ECU, no idea if it will work but it worked on my astra.

Can through up those warnings for various reasons, on mine it was firstly a gear sensor that needed replacing at about 2000 miles. I still get a problem intermittently although it is suppose to be down to it now requiring a software update from Fiat, I am awaiting Arnold Clark getting their system fixed (been waiting for 4 months now though.. BT & Fiat Italy getting the blame).
On mine it hasn’t happened for ages but to clear it you simply need to turn it on & off a few times then leave it for a while and it clears.

Have you possibly knocked one of the wheel sensors or wiring while working on it?

But why would that bring up "check engine"? Along with no throttle?

If something has happened to a wheel sensor it would certainly account for the ASR and ESP faults, the others could be a side effect.

Don't think fitting your mudfkaps could possibly throw up this fault! Sounds like a major issue with the engine management system to me. Possibly fuse related? (Multi components not functioning.) Never mind, if it's still under warranty you've no worries. The dealer (Uncle Arnold?) found anything yet?

Nope, a fiat technication (From Fiat UK) are coming to have a look as its the first sporting they have had to sort in the evo range. Mind you, that happened with my dads bravo and turned out to be a faulty idle air control valve. All we can do is wait..

Just a pity that the cars only 4 weeks old and they cant even supply me with a courtsey car...

Well, they say (Kirkcaldy Fiat) that there *should* have be a courtesy car available this afternoon, but I chased them up at half 5 this evening to see if it is available and they say that the customer that has the car just now, hasn't returned it. I feel like I'm just being messed around but I will give them their due as they are actaully offering me a courtesy car, mind you, doesnt exactly look good as I might just end up writing a letter the FGA and telling them to take the car back and get a mito 170 :)

yea its a mystery. I have no idea what the fault could be as im not a car mechanic. But still no courtesy car as of yet, getting seriously cheesed off with this. Lets hope i get one today. As for being based in the grande punto, its just a slight difference with the styling and a couple of new engines. If its voltage related, the ECU must be cooked then as they really dont like any voltage going back to it any more than 5 volts. Well see what they say when the technician comes to she her.

I will keep you guys posted on any developments.

I'm not sure Fiat would take a car back because of one fault? If you now want to change cars because of reliability you realise the Mito is the same car?!

Yes i do realise, but now im getting a courtesy car this evening and fiat are doing what fiat technical is telling them (right now is checking wiring and I assume voltages aswell). Will keep you updated on what gets replaced and what doesnt.

UPDATE: Fiat technical recon that it is the engine ECU, however, whilst the dealer has ordered an ECU, it is coming from Italy. Which means that they wont see the ECU until atleast tuesday. Also had a call from Fiat Technical today aswell.

Buy something for £10 and you could reject it as not fit for purpose.
Spend your life savings on something which could turn out to be a killing machine & you have to do without until it gets fixed !
What a crazy world.
maybe you need to get some legal advice?

Nah its cool, the dealership didnt havd a clue on what it could have been, got fiat technical involved and they recon the ECU has packed in... got my 500 courtesy car though but not happy with the service that they have given me. I had to chase them as to whats happening with regards to my car and a courtesy car. Might jist take it up with fiat customer support...
