Apologies if this has been asked else where, but just wondering how much people have been paying for their first service on their Punto Evo's? I was under the impression that the Punto Evo 1.2l only need servicing every 18,000 miles or every two years which ever comes sooner, however the dealership have been ringing me and sending me letters encouraging me to book my first annual service; is the book or the dealer right?

Thanks in anticipation.

I was told when I bought my 1.6 Mjet that it was 18,000 miles or a year whichever came first. Generally cars should be serviced once a year, 2 years seems like a very long time for a car to go unserviced.
I've checked the manual for mine and it says 30000km (approx 18000 miles) but no time scale.

I was told when I bought my 1.6 MJet Punto Evo that Fiat have split the services.

So, I think that annually there is a basic service (consumables like air filters that ideally need changing annually) and the car decides when it needs an oil service (try looking for Service in the menu system, mine has done about 6000 miles and reckons an oil service is due in 15000 miles time).

As for costs, I seem to remember the oil service being around £100 and the basic service being around £120... I've not shopped around as yet - only had the Punto since November 2011.

My sporting is 18k or each year for an oil change. To be honest, unless the garage knows how ro reset the service light and milage then expect around £170-£200. Most people can download fiat ecuscan, buy the leads and do it all themselves.

My rule for servicijg is, regardless how many miles a vehicles done, whether it be 100 or 10000 miles, service it every year or 6 months dependant on engine.

Thanks for the replies. I've contacted two local Fiat Dealers who both told me something different about when I should get the car serviced. Thought I'd better contact Fiat UK and this is their reply:

"Thank you for contacting Fiat Group Automobiles and for your interest in our products.

Regarding services on your vehicle, a full service should be carried out at either 18000 miles or after two years, whichever comes sooner.

For what regards having a service after one year, there are certain elements that need to be checked and/or replaced in order to maintain the warranty. This is called the low mileage annual service, and as per the service and warranty booklet, include oil and filter checks and replacements.

Your local authorised Fiat dealership can provide a more exhaustive list of checks carried out during the low mileage annual service."

The advice I've received seems to go against the car manual says so I'm still none the wiser, but looks like the car still needs an annual service.
