Hi,

I have a Fiat Punto Evo Natural Power where the temperature indication jumps over -0.5 and 0.0 deg.C. It goes directly between -1.0 to 0.5.
Therefor I want to know where the temperature sensor is placed so I can do some tests on it. Maybe it is a Software error?

Best regards,
Sören

Now I have found thetemperature sensor and made some tests.

(It is a cold day today,-10 °C outside. The following test is done with the motor running.)

I first warmed the sensorup with a hairdryer to +10 °C.

Then I carefully sprayedcooling spray on the sensor and looked on the display to see the temperature drop. When it came down to 0.5 °C it also showed 0.0 °C for a few seconds before itshowed 0.5 °C again. When I then sprayed some more cooling spray on the sensor, nothing happened, until it showed -1.0 °C. I could then continue cooling itdown in 0.5 °C steps to -12 °C.

Then I used the hairdryeragain to warm the sensor up. But nothing happened on the display!!! Why?? Icould feel on the sensor that it was nicely warm.

I turned off the engine andstarted it up again. Still -12 °C from the warm sensor. I repeated this severaltimes without any success.

With the motor off Iunplugged the cable to the right door, and placed it back again. When I thenstarted the engine again, it showed +24 °C!!!

How come that it showcorrect temperature when it drops down, but not when it goes up?

I have made some films fromthis experiment that I will show to the guys where I bought the car. Today Ihave had this car exactly one year. And there are some things that are not workingas it shall…

Best regards,
/Sören

to be honest the outside temperiture sensor on most vehicles are never 100% accurate maybe your just being a tad bit fussy, its not something that i would be bothered about... i would be far more concerned if the engine temp sensor wasnt working correctly.

point to add... if you fiddle around to0 much then fiat wont guarentee your warrenty.
