Lol. Had the lock on mine freeze once or twice last winter. It hasn't done it yet this winter yet.

So I've rescued the bottles from the boot by unfolding the seats, was having a look ( a brief look at that, this wind is ridiculous) at the lock mechanism, should i be able to see the silver latch lever move when i press the unlock button on the remote? I'm thinking the central locking for the boot is out of sync, so manually unlocking the boot might reset it. would this be right? Im gonna give it a shot tomorrow when there isn't a danger of being blown away.

On the plus side, i managed to get a 42" tv to fit in the car....just. poor shop assistant, bet he was wishing he had never offered to help carry it to the car.

Gave that video fix a try. can't get the boot catch to release, tried pushing up whilst pressing the button on the key. the indicators flash when i press the button but no response from the boot door itself. Going to take it back to the dealer first thing tomorrow. AGAAAIN!:bang:

Just a quick update.

Took the car to Arnold Clark Fiat, the guy on reception said there was no one available to look at the car until the 7th, which isn't ideal but that can't be helped, so i've booked it in. And then whilst in the car park had another go at popping the boot from the inside, and it worked, so i started to unlocking the boot with the car locked, and then unlocked, No joy what so ever, the boot is still as stuck as it ever was. Just wondering should the boot motor rod that pushes the door open be extended all the time?

i think you mean the spring loaded pin? to the left hand side of the catch? its not motorised its just a spring loaded plunger for want of a better description

yes it should spring to full extent....

but even with the boot lid open you should still hear the lock mechanism give us 10 mins and i should have a video up

I appreciate you uploading that video. That helps quite a bit. Everything on my car looks the same as what yours does there. But, when i press the boot unlock button on the key im not hearing that noise that you can hear on the video there.

Im wondering if there is a fuse blown. but in the book it says the fuse for the passenger doors is the same fuse for the boot unlock.

Chances are the boot lock mechanism is dead especially if you get water leaking out of the boot lid when you open it after it rains water gets in and either wrecks the micro switch and your boot light either stops working or the boot open message stays on even though its closed.. or the solinide packs up... there is also a chance that the trigger wire has broken in the boot hinge area

which reminded me, mine was freezing locked last winter and it had the boot skin leaking problem which explains, the mechanism was probably soaked.

Hi.

I've had t rebook the repair that was due tomorrow coz i have to work :bang:....so looks like it will need to be next weekend. hopefully i can get a courtesy car coz i got stuff to do next weekend that i now cant do this weekend.

Hi everyone,

Been to the dealer on Saturday, they had the car for 2 and a half hours ( wasnt chuffed when i found out why) and they fitted a new boot lock. i waited from half 8 on saturday moring and saw my car being driven out of the garage back to the carpark at 10 past 10. So i waited, and waited,.......and waited and still no one came over to tell me my car was ready, so at quarter to 11 i went over to find out what was taking so long i was told they were just WASHING and HOOVERING my car! Musta had a dirty sponge coz i couldn't see where it had been cleaned, the boy must be a dab hand with a hoover, bloody immaculate. Anyway, parts replaced under warranty too :D. Fuel economy on arrival at garage 46.9mpg on a 16 mile journey:slayer:, fuel economy upon car returning to me, 40.6mpg, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY DOING?:bang:

Please God, let this be my last visit to the shark!
