Hey guys

My Mrs had a fiat seicento a few years back and I gave her a lot of stick about it but now I'm having to eat humble pie as I've took the plunge and bought myself a Fiat...... I went with a Punto Evo 1.2 Dynamic in progressive black with the Bordeaux interior and additional parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, kick plates, Punto evo dynamic style pack and the visibility pack. I'm now on a 10 week waiting list while the car is built for me & tbh I think it is going to kill me!!

Also I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me, I'm looking for a few things actually....

1). Will I need the adaptor to use my iPhone in the car or will it work just fine with the standard Fiat connector cable?? Additionally does anyone know where I can get a Fiat iPhone connector cheap?

2). I'm also interested in getting myself a satnav and since the new Punto Evo comes with the satnav dock built in to the dash it should be perfect.... But where can I get the tom-tom satnav that is made to fit the Evo's dash??

3). Finally, I noticed that the Fiat 500 keys have customisable cases. Are these available for the Evo's keys because I would really like to have a Red case on my keys to make them stand out more and match the colour scheme I'm going for in the car.

Thanks a lot,
DD

I have a 1.4 Evo, also in Dynamic spec, and I bought my TomTom accessory from the Fiat website (www.fiat.co.uk), but I imagine your local Fiat dealer can also order one in. It's not cheap, but I find it works very well.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy any of the Fiat adaptors, cables etc for Blue&Me until you get the car and see how your particular iPod/iPhone actually works with the B&M in your vehicle. From previous posts on this forum, it appears Fiat occasionally update the B&M software in the car, so yours may work OK. In any case, for a few months now Fiat have built Evos with two sockets in the dash - one for B&M, and the other is a straightforward AUX IN, so that practically any MP3 player will work (although you won't have the full B&M control with the AUX IN). I got my car in April, which I think was round about the time the factory switched from providing two USB sockets, to one USB (for B&M) and one AUX IN. Mine has that, and it's good to have the AUX IN option for when the B&M system plays up!

Sorry I can't advise re the key covers, but I'm sure there will be another helpful FiatForum poster along soon!
Enjoy the car.

1. adaptors are around £70 from dealer £50ish on ebay.
2. The sat nav is from the dealer, not sure on price, again ebay probably cheaper.
3. Covers can be changed check the fiat website accesories, again dealer or ebay.
lots of dealers sell on ebay so bargains can be got for new genuine items.

Hi and gratz on the purchase.

I do not belive you need the fiat adapter anymore on the newer specs (from like a year ago) I have a iphone and it works fine with a standard iphone cable and no adapter. It also works fine with the bluetooth but the txt part does not work.

500 key covers will work, I got a green one.

and the satnav ask the dealer or ebay.

That's excellent news to hear that new builds now come with an aux in slot. That's made my day, cos I've been a bit worried myself about what to do when b&m plays up. Just checked my psperwork, i ordered mine on 23rd may and grabbed one which was at stage 13 at that point. Don't receive it til later this month so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that mine has got an aux in included.

Re the iPhone thing, I emailed fiat via their website about this before I ordered my car and they confirmed in writing that an adapter for iPhone is definitely not required.Saves a few quid!

This might be a daft question but anyway...

If I'm lucky enough to find my Evo does indeed have an aux in slot and I want to use it gor my iPhone/iPod - do I need to get a cable with a 3.5mm jack on each end (ie - connect to iPhone via headphone socket) or does it need to go via the charging slot on the iPhone?

On my Mams Fiesta, Fiancées Ka and a friends Fiesta they all just use a double ended 3.5mm jack to play their music through the cars speaker system, so I would expect it to be the same on the Punto Evo. At the end of the day your just using the car as a large speaker source for your music, the same as a set of headphones or them 3.5mm speakers you get on eBay.

Good to hear that (y) - now I just need to get a cheap iPhone/iPad cable on eBay and I'm all sorted :D

I'm almost certain the b&m is the same in my Evo as it is all other current models.

I use my iPhone by simply taking a standard Apple USB cable that you get with the iPhone (I've had 5 iPhones, 6 iPods and an iPad so have a few kicking about) and plugging into the USB slot on the dash. Then you can control the tracks through the steering mounted buttons. In the end I took one of my old iPods and popped it in glovebox so I don't have to get my phone out eberytime I wanna listen to music.

As for Bluetooth my iPhone works perfectly. The SMS reader doesnt function with iPhones though. The only thing to note is for the voice dialling you have to say surname first when speaking. This is not a fiat thing, it is an Apple thing.

Hope that helps
