Ok went onto moneysupermarket.com the other day to get quoted for my insurance. They said that the value of my 8 month old Evo Sporting (list ptice £16000 at the time) was only £5,000. What is this right? surely its not lost that much in such a short time.

I went there earlier & they priced my car up at £7900 i think it was (Think i paid 14,500-15), Must admit i was rather shocked... I'd of thought 9-10 minimum for a 1 year old Eleganza.

I think moneysupermarket is abit outta whack, I think there using the budget-evo prices.

Just take note that the list price for the Evo's dropped by £1500 in June 2010. I bought mine in April 2010 and the list price for the Sporting (no extra's etc) was £15295 and in June it dropped to £13,795 so this will affect the market value unfortunately. I've learnt my lesson not to buy a brand new car again. I expected the value to drop but not by a huge amount!Moneysupermarket valued mine at £8995 when looking for Insurance.

I went onto the website where they buy any car just for a laugh and with all the extras i have on my evo in immaculate condition, they offered £7200!! The list price with the extra's was £17700!

I would say the likes of the Whatcar & Parkers sites will give a more realistic guide price, Moneysupermarket seems to be way off the mark.
The basic new OTR price of the Sporting Evo has gone back up slightly (probably due to VAT) and is now £14095

I am looing at buying a new diesel sporting, its list price is £15,000 but an internet place can do one for £11600. I am very worried about depreciation on the Punto and it is seriously putting me off buying one?

I had a valuation of just over 8K for my sporting (worth double)

The way I see it, i have my car for 3 years minimum with payments. Now the car will get to a bottom value where it will pretty much stay (around 7-8K with grande sporting ones) of a 3yr age.

Now i dont care how quick it gets there as im not getting rid anytime soon! :D

I agree! But it is a bit disheartening the fact it's gone down so much after such a short space of time! Oh well!

Thats what we found with mums Grande Punto Sporting as its only worth about £4500 now. Luckily my Punto evo is motability so will be handing it back after 3 years and wont loose so much money. I read before i got the car that it will depreciate quickly!

Im quite shocked at the valuation on the new PUNTO EVO's. i thought that the value of them would hold a lot better.

To say that they are a new car they have depreciated quite a lot, a local large car supermarket have a EVO Eleganza for £9k on a 10plate with 12k miles.

was quite tempted by it, especially seen as they also valued my MK2b punto at £2.5k.

Our Evo eleganza is a lease, new value was something like £17500 (!!! thats MRP diesel + extras for you) and the predicted purchase price after 3yr is only £5200 - thats like a 70% depreciation! I think the first year is the worst year for depreciation tho.
The Parkers 3yr price range is just £3800-5800 though - ouch! (n)
