I wanna put xenon headlights on my car is it possible..and if so how simple is it? :D

Hi, yes you can put xenons in any car now with kits off the web and in shops.

They are a lot of messing about if your doing it youself as they reuire power packs/converters etc to be fitted, and you will have to cut out the holes for the xeonon spheres and fix them in place.

you could always pay someone to do it though... sup to you (y)

Or you could just get xenon look bulbs (a lot easier) :D

Also they are illegal in a car without a projector lense (we don't have those) and you need headlights with auto levelling (also don't have that).

This means it could attract the police to you more if you like to put your foot down

and headlight washers..........

not worth the agro IMO

nothing more annoying than them to oncoming drivers

have a read of this

https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-faqs/229399-after-market-hid-lamps-uk-law.html

And it only seems to be getting worse, Ive noticed week by week more people with lights that absolutely daze me and those stupid fairy lights that look so stupid on cars bar Merc, Audi that they come manufacturer fitted

Headlights you cant go wrong with Osram Nightbreakers Plus a near white light but performance more than style, If you like the LED look go for MTEC DRLS they omit a white/blue light theres some on my car in Members Motors

Not all cars with after market xenons actually blind you though!

Id say alot more cars have standard headlights with a miss aligned bulbs that dazzles you hellishly. However we have low crime here so there is practically no police presence to sort out this serious problem.

The xenon requirements aren't technically correct because certain models of Renault Laguna older shape, Honda Civic new shape and quite a few Volvos have actual HID Xenon bulbs in a standard reflector with no auto levelling and not washer. However the reflectors are specifically designed for these bulbs. These are factory fit and fully road legal. Look out for them.

But yes also there are lots of HID bulbs that blind you badly but personally I see more normal lights with miss alignment

To be honest the headlamps on the Evo really aren't bad, if you just want a whiter light I'd try some of the bulbs mentioned. Fitting HID's although not a huge job isn't just plug and play and the bulbs don't like being flashed. I fitted HIDs to my last car as the standard headlamps were good looking but absolutely useless! They did improve things but I had to alter the wiring so they didn't flash while switching to main beam.
The offending headlamps,

Op are you on about HIDs like some other people seem to think you are or Xneons like you've mentioned? I recommend ring Xneon max bulbs myself.

Xenons are HIDs, they are the same thing ....

Just installing the 'xenon' bulbs into a normal car lamp.

I had Ring Xenon max bulbs, but one blew really early and I got Osram Night Breaker Plus'. They are quite a bit better from my experience.

Xneons are not HIDs. HIDs may use Xneon gas but Xneon bulbs areregular bulbs vacuum sealed with Xneon gas ;)

In regards to your issue with ring bulbs vs the osram I happened to have issues with the osram blowing prematurely but not the ring. So I suppose it's luck of the draw.

HID stands for high-intensity discharge, a term referring to the electric arc that produces the light. The high intensity of the arc comes from metallic salts that are vapourised within the arc chamber. These lamps are formally known as gas-discharge burners, and produce more light for a given level of power consumption than ordinary tungsten and tungsten-halogen bulbs. Because of the increased amounts of light available from HID burners relative to halogen bulbs, HID headlamps producing a given beam pattern can be made smaller than halogen headlamps producing a comparable beam pattern. Alternatively, the larger size can be retained, in which case the xenon headlamp can produce a more robust beam pattern.

Automotive HID lamps are commonly called "xenon headlamps", though they are actually metal halide lamps that contain xenon gas. The xenon gas allows the lamps to produce minimally adequate light immediately upon powerup, and accelerates the lamps' run-up time. If argon were used instead, as is commonly done in street lights and other stationary metal halide lamp applications, it would take several minutes for the lamps to reach their full output. The light from HID headlamps exhibits a distinct bluish tint when compared with tungsten-filament headlamps.

If a car has factory fit xenon headlights with a projector lens and washers and auto levelling like my boyfriends Lexus, it has exactly the same bulbs from a HID kit, because I bought just theHID bulbs at a higher kelvin rating to look more blue than the standard white glow they give off.

Were not talkig about xenon charged standard bulbs.

We are talking about installing xenon HID bulbs which are exactly the same as the bulbs in a car with factory fit xenons

Nobody except you calls standard bulbs charged with xenon gas like your ring xenon max bulbs or night breakers, xenons. They are just upgraded bulbs with xenon gas. Not xenon headlights

I've never noticed the blank space on the side of the front bumper where there would be an orange light for the US Market on the s14. WIERD LOL

I think a headlight like on your s14 is called double optic when it has a projector lense but a standard halogen bulb behind it. Our old MX-6 had those and the light output was really quite poor. Seemed to be a popular design on Jap cars around that age
