Does anyone know exactly what the process is regarding vehicle delivery once a car is received at the docks (in my case Bristol, Avon) and what the general turn around is to get said car to the dealer after? I realise that we've had some bad weather but the roads were really only affected for a week and my replacement car has been sat over there for almost as long as the timeframe between my Dealer taking the order and it being delivered to the UK, which I consider outrageous. Do the staff at the docks finish work on Christmas Eve and down tools for nearly 2 weeks or something?

When i ordered my car, i checked up on it regularly & the guy said its in transit, when it arrives in UK it'll take about 7 days to arrive from the docks, granted this was just around the corner (im in Bristol)

But, now things are back to normal i'd throw the dealership a call and see what they say, and personally id expect your car early next week. (and thats giving them more than enough time to eat doughnuts on the way)

Well, mine's been sat there since 11 December!

I phoned the Dealer again at lunchtime today and there is still no delivery date on the system for the car. I'm kind of fed up now. My Eleganza was sat there for 4 weeks or so back in May and we've had a repeat with my replacement GP. Bristol's not much more than an hour away.

I am now beginning to think that if it doesn't soon turn up, we'll be into February and I'll be having to ask the Dealer to delay registering and taxing it until March 1st to get the new plate, which in itself it becomming an increasingly sore subject for me now as time passes anyway.

Woohoo, my 100th post! Yay! :slayer:

Spoke to someone at my Dealer and was told that the car is expected there 'some time next week'. There's still no confirmed delivery date from the Docks.

I can't believe it's taking so long for the car to get from the docks to the Dealer (some 35 or 40 miles apart). At least the Dealer was also unimpressed with this delivery schedule. The docks to the Dealer is definitely the weak link in the chain from the customer's point of view. 4 weeks FFS.

I would suggest complaining to Fiat UK, but then they'll just contact the dealer. At the moment Fiat seem completely unable to accept that many faults lie with them and their poor systems rather than the dealerships.

There's you awaiting your car to replace a faulty one, there's a guy with a 500 who's gearbox lasted just over 30 miles before going bang, that's taken a month to resolve so far as Fiat fitted a recon unit which was also defective.

Then there's the alternator freezing issue on Grande Puntos and on one Evo so far. Ive taken this up with the Customer Relations Manager as i was sick of people getting the runaround. It seems customers with vehicles out of warranty will have to pay for this manufacturing defect to be corrected!

Finally the on-going power steering failures on Pandas and Puntos of any age, that Fiat still havn't rectified.

Whilst i don't visit other forums except for the one for Alfa Romeo owners, so the same might happen with Fords, Vauxhalls & i may be totally unaware, the constant disappointments i read about has made me seriously wonder for the first time, whether i might replace the Stilo with a VW or Korean marque when the time comes.

Fiat UK have been very unhelpful at each contact I've had with them, although I should say this hasn't been too often. Once the Dealer has confirmed to me when I can collect the car, I have the contact details for the Customer Service Manager at Fiat UK and will be contacting him detailing what I think of his operation and to discuss compensation. I have been giving my Dealer hassle on a regular basis trying to get this problem sorted, all of which should have been directed at Fiat UK themselves.

While the Dealer have been very good thus far, I am convinced they'll be as relieved as I am when I take delivery of the car so they'll be left alone by me! ;)

Had a phone call from my dealer today. I wrote a stinking email to Fiat UK Customer Services complaining about the crap service they've been offering and they subsequently magically offered a delivery date to my dealer and I am told I can pick the car up next Friday. HOORAY!

When i ordered my punto evo it was sat at bristol for nearly 2 months for no reason they would tell me. I still think my car was damaged which is why it took so long!

2 months?!

The Avon docks are definitely a weak link in the chain and Fiat need to do something about it fast. Picked my car up today. HOORAY!

Yep my dealer blamed fiat uk and fiat uk blamed my dealer i never got the truth out of them!

I'd be surprised if it was the dealer. I'd point the finger at either the Docks operation or Fiat. When I got my last car delivered in May last year, my car was sat there for about 5 weeks doing nothing, along with 6 other cars the dealer was waiting on, so they had a load for them alone.

My Dealer was giving Fiat grief every week and it still made no difference, so I am sure your dealer wasn't causing the delay.

Yeah but the thing i found strange was my car was the only one, they got all there other orders except mine!

All OK so far thanks. Been checking buttons, dials and cubbyhole covers etc as watching the threads on here for problems.

I am struggling with one thing though, I have a light in the boot. Can't work out how to get it to switch on! Not sure where I put the manual!

That's good news :)

I just deleted my initial message asking about the switches as i was going to post it in your thread that has the photos in of the car - i read this thread first & just posted in here, but then thought i'd sneakily move it to another thread, not expecting anyone else to be awake

Anyway, glad it's all good so far. Long may it continue. My parents have been making a couple of noises about looking at an Evo, so i'm gonna be watching this section like a hawk - am abit nervous because the Grande Puntos isn't known for its bullet proof build!

Fair comment about the Grande Punto.

If anyone on here knows about this boot light thing, let me know!

They just seem shocking. I know people generally visit a forum more when something goes wrong than when it's all going fine, but there just seems to be problem after problem in the Grande Puntos section. Thankfully the Evo section seems to be better so far.

I think with the boot light, it should come on just from opening the boot. Maybe theyve not fitted or removed the bulb. Might be something done at the docks rather than the factory. Failing that, could they have put a light unit in the boot by mistake. I dunno if all Evos have boot lights, so maybe it should be a blank panel?

Yeah boot light should come on when you open the boot (well on the sporting anyway), you could check the bulb & the fuse other than that get the garage to check it out.

Just checked the light assembly. It's all wired up (thought maybe I had a dummy faceplate!) and there's a bulb in. But it doesn't come on when I open the boot. I have tried swapping the bulb with one from above the registration plate which I knew was working and that didn't work either. The bulb that was in the boot that would not come on worked fine when I put it in the registration plate connector.

So, wiring or fuse then. I'll get the dealer to take a look.
