Hi all!

after ordering some mtec bulbs ages ago (didnt arive) ive finally got round to ordering some more!

ive seen pics of cars with all Mtec's (white) and they look mint so i'm going to get all Mtec.

but there are different bulbs with different wattage eg. 55/65w 100w etc.

does anybody know what i should get for my evo? and will they cause errors because of the higher power/draw?

thanks as ever guys! :slayer:

You need 55/65w, it’s just a straight swap! The 100watt bulbs are not actually road legal.(y)

Ok put simply, don't ever use bulbs higher wattage than standard 55/65w. This is because the extra wattage can melt the wiring only designed to cope with 65 watt not 100.

Also the extra heat of the bulb will deteriorate your headlamp reflectors badly and potentially damage the outer plastic of your headlights and lower their transparency.

Only cars with Glass headlights are suitable for these and a test to see if the wiring can withstand the extra wattage is essential.

It doesn't cause an error either but just don't do it lol

I changed mine after stealing the idea from MrBooney I think, But MrBooney used canbus bulbs, I had some the Mtec lights spare so I put them on the numberplates, looks much cooler.

Also I would reconmend osram nightbreakers plus. I think most people here use them (again I stole the idea). They are so so so good.

My set up is this at the moment. As I will be changeing my sidelights to canbus led bulbs.

Osram nightbreakers plus (headlights)
Osram sidelights
Mtec (DRL)

i dont supose you know what the bulb size is for number plate do you ? :D

and hmm, i know almost everyone on here has the osram's, but i want the whitest light i can get i.e. most 'xenon' lookalike and want all the light coulours to match, so i was going for Mtec Superwhite for all bulbs

maybe i should listen to evryone else and go with Osram lol

Fordyl, or anyone else! don't suppose you have a pic of the mtec number plate bulb or canbus at night? I'm trying to decide on canbus or mtec bulb lol :D
