i didnt.
these cars engines are benched tested before hand.
but to play it safe just dont floor it till its up to temp, best at least 15-20mins driving.
and dont hit the limiter.
just drive normally basically. you can still use the engine power if its required to accelerate such as on the motorway and bypassses etc.
just dont race it about. and keep checking the oil.

Exactly, The car will loosen up after a few thousand miles 
But for now just ensure the engine temps are up and have fun and drive safe!

Had mine a week & just been driving normally. No problem with using speed when needed & it shifts very nicely! Enjoy your new Sporting

Agree with all above posts, drive normally, I do alot of miles, and have always used my new cars normally from the off, and never had a problem, if you need full throttle and full revs, use them, let it warm up first, and drive it gentley for the last few miles home, and all should be well..
I currently have a GPS 1.9, bought it new in 2007, mapped it at 4,000 miles, and have now done 102,000 miles with no major issues (Original turbo/engine/gearbox/clutch ect) never even had to top it up with oil, just had it seviced every 18k to fiats service schedule.

dont take my word for it but my technicians actually told me that get the car to temprature then drive it 'like you stole it'. apperantly it makes it more responsive in the future and loosens things up alot quicker. I took there advice and well the diffrence between 2000 miles later is awesome i love it .

I've just been told the same thing by my fiat dealer after going in there and complaining about the low mpg ! I've only done 250 miles so far and I'm only getting 24 miles to the gallon :-( what's your average now you've done 2000 miles ?

and i am lead footed and i dont do no motorway driving what so ever. ive done just under 3000 now. they do say that you will not get realistic figures until 3000-5000 miles just see how you go. i work for fiat and they do sometimes take a while to loosen up if you dont get realistic figures back by 5000 miles then complain complain complain 
I've done just over 2,000 miles and I'm getting between 39 and 40.6 mpg. I do very little town driving, mostly A roads and Motorway. I think Fiats combined of 50.6 mpg is unrealistic tbh in my opinion.

I get around 33MPG on mine this is when driving like a girl using the shift patterns told and changing at about 1.6. I do mainly town driving and a small bypass every now and then with cruise.
50 is a very unrealistic number for my car but as someone said i think it takes proper running in (5k or so) as my dealership car (i borrowed for a few days with 5k on the clock) was far better for economy (even though i was more lead footed) and also felt more nippy
