my start and stop has been working completely fine on my car since i got it 1 week ago, now every time i stop, start and stop engages then 10 seconds later disengages and turns the engine back on without me touching ANY pedal or even the gear stick? tried turn the car on/off several times and disconnecting start and stop at the button with no joy, is there a fix or is it a back to the dealer job? :bang:

any help would be much appreciated?

if its starting up itself its because of low charge battery, take it to a good dealer with a good DET to explain the system to you and check for faults.

dealer expert technician...he's job (trained at great expense) is to answer your questions/help you.

p.s.just noticed your in glasgow, phone the guy at Ayr Fiat (forget his name just ask for the DET) as most people contact him in that area)

As said above this will be down to the battery running low on charge and the system starting the engine to charge the battery. Imagine your battery ran so low it could not start the engine? You wouldn't want that would you? Not to worry the start/stop cars use a different type of battery to the normal lead acid types and should be able to take repeated charge / discharges.

You could try running the car for a couple of hours without stopping it (you can turn off stop/start for this) which should rejuvinate the battery charge a little.

ok quick update,

took it to the dealership to see the DET, he says it would be either a low battery or a faulty neutral sensor if it wasnt starting... because the system wouldnt allow start/stop to engage, but because its starting then cutting off after a few seconds he has no idea what it could be, he's never seen that or even heard of that problem and the diagnostic showed 0 errors anywhere in the car ive booked the car in and he says he may have to get fiat involved... im quite worried :bang:

Same one I got my car from, Fiat east kilbride

does it do this all the time? do you reverse out of a driveway/garage?

It was fine for the first few days, but now it does it constantly

No ive got street parking, and I always reverse into the spaces
