About to take delivery of my Punto evo sporting but when I ordered the car 8 weeks ago I didn't order the subwoofer and now after research I've realised it will be difficult adding my own sub to the official head unit as I don't want to lose functionality I've also read on the forum about the back of the H U and the ISO connectors but seeing as no one knows if these are in use or not it don't help much my question is would it be possible to have the subwoofer by fiat added as an extra accessory after collection ?? in my old 54 plate sporting it had the connectors in the boot even tho I hadn't ordered the sub is this still the case on the new evo ? Anyone with a sporting have any ideas? Thanks

When I collected my new Evo Sporting they hadn't ordered it, as they were supposed to, witht he sub. I asked about it being fitted by the dealer and they said it was not possible. I did however get them to fit my pioneer speakers that I took out of my Grande Punto Sporting. In the evo they sound much better than they did in the Grande so I guess the head unit must be better. Also it sounds better then the load car I had with the sub in it did.

So perhaps another option for you.

Thanks Ayrshiredude (y)after lots of internet research ive realised its all down to the loom or lack of it ! ive now decided to connect up to the rear speakers with a blaupunkt thb 200a or 210a sub and amp combo wich has an auto on off and high level input :Dso no need for the missing connections from back of the HU such as rca outs and amp on/off cable !!
was the sub in your loan car really that bad ? im sure it was 100 watts ?!

After collecting my Evo sporting things with the dealership went down hill. They managed to forget my side body mouldings(strips) after pissing around, with my car for a few days I got the call it was ready and when I arrived I found my car with some ****ly painted strips on it. To add to it they were the wrong mouldings!! I still don't have them back and have got the re-allining my passenger door and boot as they are out of line.

I have the style pack which includes the upgraded audio equip and to be honest I like it more than not having it but after having JL Audio gear in my last car the 'upgrade' is not even close. It will be no better than a cheap home surround sound sub. But it is enough for me to go without nodding it!

Bottom line, if it's good to go when u get it then get away from the dealership as quick as you can.

Good luck!!

Nightmare :(

Ohh seems like you had a bad experience with your dealership I've had loads of fiats and I've never had a problem with my dealer although there are two other dealers I can go to if my one starts playing the arse lol I had the oem sub that I fit in my 54 plate sporting because back then they used to fit the loom even without you ordering the sub and that was ok until I blew the speaker :-( the sub I'm fitting comes with with either 70 rms 120 max or 140 rms 240 max so i think that should sound great with the 4 speaker and 2 tweeter set up the evo has picking up the car on monday all the days are going so slowly now !

The big problem with the Upgraded system is they still have crap speakers. Having added my own the tone is so much better. I had a loan car for a month until mine arrived (Evo Dynamic) it had the sub in it and what I have sounds so much better, much warmer and more detailed.

There is no point in upgrading to better amp yet keep the same speakers you are not going to get a big difference. Invest in some half decent speakers and you will see a huge difference.

Yeah I was looking into changing the speakers too at a later date I wanted to do the amp first because the standard speakers sounded ok but just no bass and it did overall have a better sound quality than my last Punto and that was ok with upgraded sub and standard speakers and I believe the evo hu has an equalizer? So I should be ok for the time being thanks for the info BTW which speakers do you have installed now and how much did fiat charge you to fit them ?

The standard system with the sub upgrade doesn't sound bad at all for a factory system (although I did have to play a bit with the equalizer to get there) but the sub doesn't punch out loads of big bass if that's what you're looking for. There doesn't seem to be any sort of filter on the door speakers to cancel out the low frequencies and let the sub do the low work, Fiat missed a trick there.

Is the evo eq adjustable or is it just a preset thing ?

I still want to uprate the speakers in my Eleganza, but as someone who doesn't want to take door panels etc off its pretty difficult... Always worried about something breaking or not getting it back right / rattling etc

Guess i'll have to bite the bullet at some point!

Same here! I'd love to upgrade my Evo GP sub and speakers but I'm terrified of breaking something.
