Hi Guys and Girls,

New to this Forum so Hello!!!

I have had my Evo GP Multiair for 2 monts and have found this week that the bootlid leaks like a sieve, when i open the boot after rain, water pours out of the grommets at either end of the tailgate, and the channel where the boot look is on the lip of the boot is full of water from end to end, and then runs down into the lock.

Has anyone else had this problem? I know that it was a major issue on the Grande Punto, but i thought Fiat may have rectified the problem on this model.

Mine is going into the local Dealer this week for 3 days to see if they can sort it out, but looking at previous posts about leaky Puntos, i dont hold out much hope!!

Mine is also draining out the rubber gromits but fortunately it's not going inside the car.

Let us know how you get on and what the dealer fix was.

Hi Guys,

Quick update for you. Dealer called today, the water is getting through the welds on the hinges on the tailgate and also through the seams between inner and outer skin. Dealer wants to remove boot lid, re wels hinges and seams and respray. I have refused as the car is only 8 weeks old!! I am in the process of rejecting my evo!:mad:(n):(

Looks like something went abit Pete Tong with your replying to posts, but that aside very bad news on the Evo. That's the second one that's been rejected on here now. The first being down to an engine fault that couldn't be diagnosed.

I guess youre in contact with Fiat UK now? How are they being about it? To be honest i don't blame you for rejecting it. The welding isn't great by itself, but the worst bit for me would be the re-spraying as it just seems so often that garages can't match the colours anymore.

Hope it goes okay & they can get hold of a replacement Evo for you, if that's what you want?

Hi All,

Well i have had some discussion with the dealer today and they are going to attempt a fix, if this does not work and the leak is still there they are prepared to take the car back so fingerrs crossed!

They have shown me exactly where the water is coming in, its shocking, it seams that the inner and outer seams hardly over lap! Fiat, Naughty, naughty!! skimping of metal work!!!

well its going to be about a week before they can fit it in for repair, so meanwhile im driving around in a Panda Eco Active!!!! NICE!! NOT!!!

Sounds like a decent enough compromise, though like T, i'm abit curious where exactly this leak is coming from.

I'll be getting a Panda when i take my car in for a service & cambelt next Monday, quite looking forward to it as i've never tried a Panda before.

The Active Eco is obviously not as well kitted out as the Punto Evo but they have proved extremely well put together, which is far more than can be said of the Grande Punto and probably the Evo. I know which one i'd get if i wanted to only visit the dealership for servicing once a year!

Collect the car this morning. Dealer cant fit it in for repair for 10 DAYS!

great service from Fiat Dealers again.

The leak is coming in on the hinges so says the service dept manager, water running in side bootlid and dwn the back screen. Parcel shelf wet this morning. and water in the channel on the boot lip.

Lets hope the weather improves over the next week or so!!

My Puntos got a leak in the boot now , found it over the weekend. I really dont want the smell of damp in my new shiney car :(

Called up dealer this morning, booked it in for Friday morning they are going to have the car over night so i'm picking it back up Satuday lunch time :( In the mean time im going to get a Fiat 500 loan car :D

Well the Dealer Principal called me today and has said that i should not have been given my car back with out a fix. Have to drop it in tomorrow night on the way home. He has spoken to the bodyshop who are fully aware of the place where the water is getting in. They are sure they will fix it first time. We will see.

I will keep you all posted once the fix is complete and once we have our first rains after!! fingers crossed, but i dont think i will hold my breath on this one!!

Nothing wrong with the Panda matey. Had mine for 3 years now and not a single problem with it. :yum:

Feel your pain though, I had a Ford Puma once and the boot on that used to fill up with water when i opened it, i used to keep a couple of plastic ducks in there, they had a great time. Hope you get it sorted.
