Technical My boot leaks

i am having the same problem with water in the boot lid, although my rear screen and boot floor is dry.

will be going back to the dealer with a growing list of faults:

boot lid not perfectly alligned so "catches" when opening.
start stop only stops the engine for 1 second if anything electrical is turned on.
engine randomly turned off twice so far
very tappety when hot
1st gear very hard to engage when car is moving at any speed, even at crawl i have to wrench it in.
and now boot lid fills with water.

Hi Guys,

Collecting my baby from the bodyshop today so we will see!! pouring down with rain so fingers crossed when i open the boot!!!!

Well I went to pick her up and guess what! Still leaking! Handed my keys in and said I don't want her back boo fiat dealer!

Well the Dealer Principal called me today and has said that i should not have been given my car back with out a fix.

Is he personally paying for a courtesy car out of his budget then? What IF there isn't a fix? Have you spoke with the DET yet?

You still got courtesy car? If not i'd hire one & bill the dealer who can fight it out with Fiat if they want.

Honestly I know things like this happen but when you pay this amount of money for a car its f*cking shocking! If it was my car i'd be pressing...no demanding a full refund and going elsewhere.

Yes I still have one of their demos. I will await the call from the head of sales in the morning.they did try to white seal the seams but obviously not worked. Was told that 4ist allowed 1.5 hours to fix under warranty. But water was still running down the inside of the rear screen and put of the grommets.

sorry to say, that i am in the middle of writing my official letter of rejection of my Evo.

I think it might be a 500 for me next!! they seem to have less problems

My car went to the garage on Friday for the leak in the boot, bloke told me that a part was fitted in correctly and he fixed it while I was there. He said they'd keep the car and do a water test on it just to double check thats what the problem was. I get the car back Saturday lunch time park up at home and its rained over night. This morning I wash the car and thought i'd just check to see how it was and guess what its full of water again. Going to call the garage send it back there tomorrow and tell them I dont want it back until its stopped leaking. I know new cars have problems but I really dont want my new car smelling off damp :( :(

Thanks for that, Waiting on a call from the dealer at the moment. They are deciding whether to agree my rejection or not.

Update! The dealer feels they deserve one more chance at a repair. The car is in the bodyshop and is being worked on by their senior technician, who has solved all 3 leaks in the Evos he has had so far. So we will see. I will keep you up to date once I get the car back.

So one dealer has had 3 that leak already, they can't have sold that many. So how many leaking Evo's are there out there, sounds like a big problem. And i was thinking of trading in my fault free 100HP for one.

What with the leaks and the stop start issues ive read about i think i will stick to my panda. Shame as the Evo looks good and is great value for money.

I remember a Thread on here from just before the Evo had been released.

One lad said "at least Fiat will have fixed all the known problems with the Grande Punto..."

I did cynically smile a bit at the time...
Are we seeing :-
Drop-link fails,
Driver door lock fails,
Glovebox catch fails,
Rear wheel bearing fails,
Broken front springs,
Failed front suspension top mounts,
Dodgy steering racks etc yet with the Evo range?

If the above faults are being seen on the Evo it makes me really sad... :(
