To any other evo owners:

do you hear a liquidy / swooshing sound coming from the passenger side of the car when you accelerate off from standstill?

I can't make out if it's coming from the bulkhead or if it's water trapped in the sill, either way it's peeing me off. It's like as though water or some other liquid is sloshing around whenever I take off or brake.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Apart from that and the sh!te 5 speed gearbox, I love my Sporting :p

Does it do it when it's warmed up or just when cold?

I've sometimes noticed this in mine when I first start out on a journey, but not when the car is warmed up.

Mine is parked in an underground car park, so it generally doesn't sit out and get rained on for water to collect.

I was wondering if it was the refridgerant in the aircon pipes, or the remnants of any condensate which drains under the car when the aircon is running. There is quite a bit of this if you have the aircon going as it dehumidifies.

Just some thoughts... !!

Yeh I seem to notice it more when the engine's cold. Thing is, my car is also kept in a underground car park overnight, so I'd have thought that any rain water would have drained out by the morning. It's got to go back to the dealer's at the weekend to have the bump strips fitted to so I'll mention it to them then.
I'm kinda half expecting to be fobbed off though!

Can't say I've ever noticed anything like that, but my Evo is garaged.

Yes, shame the 6 speed was kept for the Abarth. (n)

it happens on my sporting and virtually every alfa romeo and fiat ive ever moved at my dealership and its always when its cold. I dont think its anything to worry about though. I am not sure what is the cause but it does happen in all of them. hope that put your mind at rest :)

hi ...had same problem with previous car "rover 75" and found plenum drains blocked ...easy to clear with wire coat hanger...needs looking at because will only get worse as water has nowhere to go....wonder if your car has this problem ????? good luck m8

I had this on my old Alfa spider, water was leaking down into the passenger side sill and collecting there. A quick fix for me was to undo the screws holding the side skirt and jack the car up and one end, the water then drained out.. :D

That was one of the very minor things on that car has to be said. ..

cars that have sat in our showromm for months still do it to this day im going to ask the mechanics today see what they say but if it was water why would it stop sloshing when the cars to temprature????? and in the summers days were it hasnt rained for a period of time (which is not often in england) it still sloshes. if it is a real issue let me no we will have a lot of cars to repair lol.

I haven't noticed mine do it for ages - and I've been listening out for it all week. It's been rained on all day so I'll see if I hear anything when I drive off tomorrow !
